I can empathize with your plight. Last year (a whole 'nother dimension compared to today),
I purchased a 700RBII from a event production co. backline stock via Ebay. When it arrived
in an SKB case I was thrilled to be upgrading to a legendary head to replace my 400RBIII
115 combo. When I plugged it up to recently purchased 115BLX all I got was low volume
distorted output. Checked speaker cables and did the DI into the 115 troubleshooting
measures with the same result. Usual physical outrage and a call to the seller (they
neglected to remove the co. ID sticker from the rear chassis) got me a 70% refund
(back when you could contact Ebay live cust svc which is non- existent today). A trip
to the local GK service center rendered a $400 estimate to replace the power amp board.
More outrage. He agreed to throw me a bone and wound up doing the whole thing for
$200+ change. I now have a pristine 2016 with 2019 Amp section that is everything I
expected and more. I see folks in these threads with newer GK problems and can only
hope @rag will chime in with helpful suggestions to those of us who respect and support
the brand as one of the best in the industry. (PLEX updates anyone?). Best of luck to all
"during these trying times". M.
I've been running a 1001RB for over 15 years and have never looked back. Glad you got your issues worked out! I love this era of GK heads! I've found that with these things I can get my sound out of any cabs I pair it with.
