Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

Loved the Fusion 550. Not even sure why I sold it. Was downsizing at the time as it has been 7 or 8 years since I had it. I am running a Fusion 212 currently. Just more GK goodness. Also want to add a Legacy series head.

The term I have seen before when referring to the 700 was it "hit the rails" easier than the bigger RB heads. I guess that means it sweet spot was easier to achieve at lower volumes.

On the RB "hitting the rails thing" from the Poweramp section I do notice that that sweet spot of warmth coming from the 700 even though the controls are set identical is not there on the 1001 but seemingly unlimited clean headroom. Until I boost the master a touch. Which is why I only bring the 1001 to large stages and outside shows where I can open it up.

To me, "hitting the rails" is 100% dependent on the volume you need. I LOVE my 700RB-II, but thankfully, don't need to hit the rails, as the volume necessary to do so on that head would be far too loud for me. I'll likely NEVER need that much volume. But I could certainly "hit the rails" on my 400RB-IV with a usable volume for my needs. But, again, I don't really NEED the rails tone at volume, as I prefer my dirt from pedals.

I found out what happens if you get a GK wet. It spawns a new one on its back. Or was that a Mogwai? :nailbiting:

Either way. There are more now. Some will have to go at some point. But looks pretty cool for now.

You can get that extra 'hitting the rails' compression at lower volume by running the master up pretty high and keeping the volume (input gain) low. In other words crank the master and set the volume with the volume control. I run the 700 that way often.

That should work.
Went to my local brick and mortar and picked one up.

(Forgot how fun music stores can be, goofed around with a few beatle basses a had a whirl on a used upright 3/4.)

So, plex into MBP using TRS to XLR is a go! So then I was questioning my other option of plex into MB using aux cable. As it turns out, the cable I bought for that on Amazon was bad!

So, I think it's safe to say my plex is good. I'll be experimenting more, as it does appear to function somewhat differently when using the MB vs the MBP. Probably need a better connection through aux into MB.

Reintroducing/rediscovering/reappreciating my 4-ohm GK 212MBE that hasn't really been played for quite a while... I actually just started gigging again after some years off, using my bigger cabs.

I just got this small 600-watt class D head (used at a great price), so it came to mind that it on this cab would make a worthy Mini Rig of Doom. :bassist:

I hooked it up, the grill was rattling, so I took it off and got good screws for it.

I found that it was reeeally dusty under there, so I cleaned that up while I was at it.

The grill was a bit bowed in, so I pushed it out, it's actually a bit convex now, looks better that way.

Played through it, set the HPF to about 45/50, and it sounds great!

I will use it next rehearsal, possibly next gig.
