It's a large outdoor space with enough PA to get the vocals out there - but I don't expect much in the way of subs.
I'm not doubling up for the sake of volume, just to spread the sound out better.
Cabs are an EA NL-210 (rare 4 ohm version) and a custom 2x12 -- hardly a Godzilla rig, but the cabinets and heads complement each other really well.
The Godzilla rig was when I was playing metal in Denver.
I had a rack rig consisting of a Peavey MAX preamp and a QSC PLX3602.
Cabinets were a PAIR of 4x10 cabs (running full range) and a 215 fitted with Kappa Pro15LF (running low-passed).
This is when I was still playing 5-string Dingwalls, and we dropped the low string down to A.

So since I have both the Legacy 800 and a Quad Cortex, I decided I would AB the Quad Cortex's built-in GK800 clone with the Legacy 800. These were all recorded 100% with no effects or cabsim. All knobs and noon and all voicing switches off. Let me know what you guys think!

I had been playing the Fusion 550 through the 212, which sounded incredible. This weekend I finally got around to swapping things up and put it into the 210/115 stack.
Oh yeah.
Played my BTB 4 w/ flats into this rig. It was beautiful.
That's all.

ok, not all…that Gretsch into the Mesa 800+ with the 212 is going to be my gig rig for the foreseeable future. Sweet, sweet tone. Doing an acoustic (ish) 90s cover duo, so it works perfectly.

I hear You. First I bought Fusion, then sold it and bought Legacy. Bad idea. I should keep Fusion also and keep Legacy.

I recall trying one out when I was looking for a new amp to replace my old Eden WT-300 that sh!t the bed. I was focused on GK because at the gig when my amp failed, the sound guy bailed me out and dragged an RB400 out of his truck. Playing through that gave me a new perspective. Anyway, I tried out everything the store had (which was a lot at the time) - RB series, MB series, MB Fusion, and the Fusion 550. I remember the Fusion 550 sounded so good. I played that through a GK NEO410 and honestly I could have just taken that whole rig home. But I was enamored with the small footprint and light weight of the MB series, I ended up getting the MB500. But that memory of the Fusion 550 stays with me.
Thanks for sharing your experience with these heads. I'm using my RB heads the most because I like the tone more, even though I have an MBF800 for backup or dual amping and an MB200 in the rehearsal studio. The MBF800 is powerful, but somehow less pleasing to my ear compared to the RBs and it changes volume more than the RB heads do when my synth or fuzz pedals kick on. I do check the classifieds for a Fusion 550 but so far, no joy.
The F-550 Is my Favorite , 700rb-II, coming in just behind it , and they are very similar , but that tube front end just gives the RB that extra harmonic "pizazz!" and texture . 800RB is my 3rd pick
I agree with you on the MB vs RB .debate. The MB by itself is a fantastic amp , but next to an RB , you will find the MB missing a certain something.

Alright, so my late '80s model 800RB has become my main player at band practice and I'd love to start gigging with it. Problem is that I really need to have my equipment racked in cases to feel comfortable taking it on the road. Don't want to get knocked around (especially this amp with the relatively easy to bend heatsink fins!) or have an issue loading in/out in the rain.
I cannot for the life of me find rack ears for sale for these which is surprising considering how iconic and popular these amps are to this day. As far as I can tell, the one I have doesn't even have holes to accommodate rack ears if I DID find them - it looks like the one in this picture, completely smooth on the sides with no holes.
I am trying to brainstorm some kind of MacGyver solution to hold it securely in a rack case but I think it might be fruitless.
I understand that the amp was designed before gigging with rack cases was commonplace, but find it surprising that there isn't a widely accepted retrofit or other solution to rack these guys!
Anyone here have some insight?

hmmm... i'd say not very, and not really haha. Looking for more of a turnkey solution but any and all info about how others have done it would be useful at this point.
Dave, you've used a Berg Forte, Genzler Magellan 800, GK Fusion 800S, and now the Legacy 800 with this NeoIV 212 cab. Is the Legacy your favorite and if so, what about it makes the match up so good?
... i'm kind of a gear hound , and the Magellan 800 is still the gold standard , imo .
consistently good tone , plenty of power , very reliable .
sounds great with the G-K cab .
i've been looking for a good second amp for awhile now .
the Berg , Fusion 800s and Legacy 800 sound good in their own way ,
just maybe not for the bluesy stuff i play .
... i recently started using an Aguilar Tone Hammer 700 .
it gets loud enough , sounds good and gets the tones i've been looking for .
it seems to match up well with the G-K NEO 212 4 ohm cab .
time and upcoming gigs will tell the tale ...

I've been running an Ashdown Shavo 22 head with my NeoIV 212 and it's an absolute beast and great for the rock we play, but I'm curious about the Genzler Kinetix 800. I love the punch of that cab but like how a tube preamp warms it up. The Kinetix lean/thick/fat switch looks like a good way to tailor the low end and the EQ points are well chosen.... i'm kind of a gear hound , and the Magellan 800 is still the gold standard , imo .

sometimes when i want to add tube warmth , i run my Origin Effects Super Vintage pedal in front of the Genzler 800 ,
sounds super ballsy ...

Closest "over the counter" solution would be to get the premade bent brackets near the lumber section of the closest hardware store( Lowes ,Home Depot) and then take it to a metal shop or amp tech to get the holes drilled on the sides.
I''ve never seen one without holes predrilled, ..or built in rack ears .... after all... RB is short for Rackmount Bass
Picked up an old GK 410B for a killer deal to go with my 800RB and 400RB.
