I would agree. And those cx cabs sound amazing! I would definitely do a matched set as well.

Yes, the 700RB-II is going to get you there. I mean, you can get the GK growl with the 1001RB but you'd be so loud it would upset everyone within a certain radius. I feel like I can get growl with my MB500, for live use it's fine but it is not the same when I play my 400RB.
Regarding the cabs, I'd get another CX210. I run two CX210 cabinets and stack them vertically. Takes up less of a footprint on stage and gets the cabs up closer to my ears. I bought extra sure-lock feet from GK and mounted them on the sides of the cabs so I have both vertical and horizontal stacking options if/when needed.
Yes thats my experience between the 2. Really you could get more of the GK growl with a 400RB vs the 700 ... but the 700 has a tad bit more punch in the note delivery . to me the "grind" is in the front end of a GK ( preamp) , and the growl is in the back .. which is a combo variation of the boost and master settings.
you can get growl at lower settings ... but have to back it up with some watts to get the feel out it ...
its hard to describe the GK signature growl magic... but when it happens , and you get that "whoa" moment ... many other amps will seem sterile .

RB700ii, or if you need more volume before growl (headroom) the RB1001ii.
Just received my new MB200. Shoulda got one ages ago. Now I have the MB112ii, MBP112, and the MB200. So I have 4 options - a 400w 2x12 stack(which I almost never need), a 200w 1x12 combo, a 200w head w/1x12 cab, and a micro head I can use with non-MBP cabs.
My MB112ii combo was making some intermittent funny noises recently, so let's just say I'm pretty well covered now if it fritz's out on me

I'm old!ya the 412 is by far one of the most beast cabs i've ever played through ...that cab can handle it all and gives it back .Omg I started this thread like a decade ago. Haha. Way to keep it alive! Still have gk neo 115s and the mb800. I Miss that 412 the sound was perfect.

I have a question... Can a 700RB give the same fat crunchy delivery as an 800RB? How do you do that?

You actually have to back off the bass knob a bit to reach the tone of the 800 with a 700RB ,to about 10:30-11 oclock..... and bump up the high mids and low mids , to about 1- 130-ish on the dial. Treble to taste
Contour is either at 0 or 10 to match the mid contour button on the 800 ... and presence to taste
the 700 actually has a bass bump ( at 30hz I think ) via a button ...the 800RB actually cuts off the lower spectrum with its "bass cut" button ( at 50hz and below if I remember correctly ) .... so with this it gets WAY FATTER than an 800RB
And the Gain Sweep is wider on the 700Rb (II) ... the "boost" really starts work with the gain when the gain knob is at 1 oclock or higher on the 800RB ...
for the 700 its similar with the gain at about 11 o'clock +
Settings FLat ( all at noon ) the 700 goes higher and lower than the 800RB ,which has a certain midrange grind , but the 800 tone is definitely in the 700RB

I feel like I've been here forever but this thread is part TWELVE of the "GK RULES!" mega-thread; I missed parts 1-11 because I didn't really catch the GK bug until 2014.
TalkBass used to require a thread to roll over every 1000 posts - but apparently that's not necessary anymore since we're on post 18,000+
Other GK content - had to send my Legacy in for service; water dripped on it at an outdoor show back in August.
Amp still sounded great, but the fans were running almost all the time at (what sounded like) full-blast - so I suspect that either the temperature sensor or fan controller got water-damaged.
I had surgery on my fretting hand last month, so no gigs scheduled at the moment.
Seemed like the right opportunity to send it back to the mothership for a checkup...
Just after I got your Legacy, I found a great deal on a Genz-Benz Streamliner 900.Good thing ya gots a backup!
It was nice to have a different tone available, so I decided to sell one of the Legacies.
My original Legacy was newer, so I sold it and kept yours...
I don't regret that choice, but since then, I've found that the Legacy is just easier to work with at gigs.
I don't gig often enough to require a backup, so I'll probably sell the Streamliner once I have my Legacy back home.

ahh gotchya. i've been eye'n down the Kinetix myself ... friend of mine got a Magellan to shelf his 800RB... said thats the only one he could tolerate subbing for the 800 .
