I worked at GK for 4 years, 88-92. Really respect Bob's engineering skills.
My dream of ending up on the endorsing Artists section of GK's website will probably never happen, but there's a reason why it's been a dream of mine for years

So killer to hear him talk. I want to buy his priducts now. Hmmm....He calls them digital.......I've heard here on talkbass that's a big no no.

That's what hit me too. But if I understand correctly he wasn't talking about the power section but the preamp.
Preamp can be digital, like AxeFx, Kemper ....
He's absolutely talking about the Class D (or along those lines) power amp. AFAIK the only digital preamp they've done is the Plex.

He did a lengthy interview a number of years ago that was in some magazine where there was picture of him by his plane at the beginning of the article. That piece was equally insightful about the man, his innovative concepts, and exceptional engineering work. And some time after that I recall watching him talk about similar things as he gave some interviewer a rather lengthy walking tour of the GK factory.
He is a true pioneer and I personally connected with one of his comments about how GK gear makes it easy for a player to get their sound out his designs. I can step up to any GK amp and feel like it just works for me. The tone stack design in particular feels very seamless, musical, and intuitive.

I'm in the process of putting together my "ultimate rig". And this video convinced me I made the right choice by going with GK. This man sure knows what he's doing! And he seems like a very likeable fellow as well.

I have the same setup except I have the Legacy 500. I've never lacked for power, but you certainly are more than covered with the 800. It is the perfect modular array of pieces. I actually use the 2x12 more than the 1x12 even for small-med gigs because it is so easy to transport, honestly it's not much more work to schlepp than the 1x12. Both sound great alone. Both cabs together brings the thunder and the clarity and detail of the sound is amazing.I'm in the process of putting together my "ultimate rig". I have an obsession for wood. The musical kind.
Can't hurt to write a good letter. I did that, while playing tons of shows with a 1001RB-II. I was only with a local band, and became an endorsing artist, again lots of shows. Most companies just mainly care that you're playing a lot in public with their name in view, and praising the gear (free advertising).
i am also a fan of Mr Gallien's efforts. this rig sounds pretty darn good. the 550 has huge bottom. i like it even more (?) through my GK Neo 212(s) . it's close though....

The GK NEO IV 212 Is an awesome speaker cabinet I have the 4 ohm version and I run it with a Mesa Subway WD-800. It's a very good combination and they work well together. As they should because when you're talking about Mesa and GK you're talking about two of the best names in bass amplification. I'm also considering picking up the single 12 cabinet as well. I might get one of their heads but I would go for the Fusion S 800 Just to get the tube preamp.I'm in the process of putting together my "ultimate rig". I will play something through a cheap amp and say "gee, I got this" and then I'll play it through my GK rig and go "hmm, not so much". Since swapping from drums to bass I think I've become a better play faster by playing through GK gear. Nowhere to hide …
My initial plan was to get the Legacy 800 and two 112's and be done with it. Then I got the idea it would actually be easier to haul one 212 weighing 44 lbs. than two 112's weighing 30 lbs. each. Done deal, or so I thought...
...until I read a few posts of yours, where you were talking about combining a 212 (4ohm) and a 112 (8ohm) for some serious oomph. Well, I had to do it, thanks to you!
Lots of great amps out there, and I enjoy some of them, but for a couple of decades, I've had a special love for Gallien Krueger, they always sound so good to me, & I never have any issues hearing myself onstage with my Gk 400rb or my 700rbIi. Love the clarity, punch & "Gk tone". Gk continues to grow & innovate, & I admire & appreciate their legacy.

As well as a smoking performance OMG. Don't care what anyone thinks of Carlos these days, Santana's 1st LP was revelatory. He was on acid? Hard to believe.
Ha--that's great to hear! Yeah, and with the 2x12 obviously you hear yourself better, than the 1x12 on the floor. It's really super portable for something that packs such a wallop! It was nice to hear RG talking about the cabs, most discussion is about the GK heads. I think the 2x12 Neo IV is one of the best all-around bass cabs out there these days. i agree. great rig. this cab is a 1st gen 8 ohm. i've got a second one just like it, just in case..
GK cabs sound great with every head i've tried through them.
