Gallien Krueger is Awesome

Sorry for the slight derail, but for you guys that own both the MB500 and MB800, which do you prefer? Are there differences other than the power?

I'm really digging my MB200 and the GK tone and am thinking about adding another amp with more power for larger venues.

Am I the only one confused as to why the OP says this new layout is any better than the last one? It doesn't look that much different from the last one.

Hmm yeah, I think you‘re the only one confused with what I said. I am the OP, and I said Gallien Krueger has a new looking webpage - check it out, it looks great. However, now that you mention it I like it better too. :D Why you ask - because I think it looks better now plus because it’s been updated.

I received my MB200 that was "Designed and Assembled in the US" this morning, less than 48 hours after placing the order with RMC. Nice micro head with go-nads to spare. I say it's like an 400RB with a bit more bottom end available. The aux-in is very groovy. Looking forward to using on the gig Saturday.

Happy camper here. Thanks rag!

Simply Awesome.

No doubt about it, Gallien is doing things right. Excellent customer service, innovative USEFUL products.

It isn't just marketing, they are putting out the goods....

I personally don't think their customer service is all that excellent. I ordered a GK 410 MBE from them about a year and a half ago, which turned out to be a fantastic cab, but it was back ordered for about 7 months. The whole time the distributor knew nothing about it, and was just waiting for it to come. I e-mailed GK about it about 4 months in, gave them the order number and everything, and no response. A couple of months passed and I e-mailed them again, and complained that no one had gotten back to me, and that I would like some information, and there was still no response. I e-mailed them again shortly after and they had blocked my e-mails.

Granted, my tone in the second e-mail was a bit hostile, but I still don't understand how they wouldn't see a customer of theirs having such concerns, turn a blind eye to it, and then to go as far as block the e-mails.

You didn't order FROM G-K, you ordered from a distributor or dealer. It would be very bad business for G-K to answer directly for a distributor/dealer. It is the company who actually ordered the product that needs to ask the question. For all you know they didn't actually place the order and a manufacturer does not, and can not get placed in the middle of that! ;)

I understand where you're coming from, but in my case, I know that the distributor ordered it, as I verified it with them numerous times, and I know they were just waiting for the shipment to come in from GK. I do believe that the distributor should have looked into it rather than passing the ball onto me. I'm not blaming GK for the lengthy delivery, I just feel like a simple response from GK like, "you'll get it as soon as we can get it out to you" or even "Sorry, but you'll have to get the distributor to contact us", would have been fine. But they didn't, they ignored it altogether. I saw nothing from them that would suggest excellent customer service, in fact, I didn't see any customer service at all, and now my e-mail address is blocked, so even if I do have any further issues I cannot send them an e-mail to get any help.

All the same, I still don't think it's really any different than the last one besides a darker color scheme ---- not that it matters any.

If you sent to the generic email that can be a "black hole" the people you ordered from should have given you [email protected] to contact? Get a second email address from yahoo, hotmail or gmail. then you won't be "blocked" :D

LOL, I do have another e-mail, and I sent a generic one through it just make sure the one I was using was blocked and it wasn't some server issue.

But that may be blocked now too. :D

I was just sending it into the generic e-mail. I think [email protected] or something like that. Anyways I will send a direct message to Bob if I ever do have an issue in the future. Thanks.

Okay, I don't know what the old web-site looked like...most websites change 3-4 times a year anyway. Yippeee!

I'm glad GK has brought their production/"final assembly" back to the US. I'm ready to move up from my GK400RB and it's nice to know I can buy American.

"Awesome" enough for me. :D

I really just got into playing bass last year, I played guitar for many years before that. I bought a mint used MB112 as a "starter" amp for $215. I keep wanting to upgrade, but I've yet to be able to justify it. Granted I usually go into a PA when playing gigs, but even at large venues with ~1500 people, many folks came up to me after complimenting me on my bass sound. I just switched to a 5 string, and figured for sure this little guy couldn't handle the low B, but it does with no problemo. All this from a 28lb amp...crazy!

I have the GK MB115 combo, and the one thing I thought was poorly designed was the DI plug. I always used to have to use my pocket knife to unplug a DI cable from it. It looks like they corrected that by turning the plug 90 degrees to make it easier to unplug. Other than that I really like my GK combo, and I'm looking in the future to picking up an MB210 and an extension cab to go with it.
