I have had 5 or 6 of them over the years.... Never a single problem.
Good bunch of people at GK and the amps IME (1001/700-RB-Ii, 800RB, etc) have all been solid.
I may prefer a Mesa, SVT, Aguilar, Genz Benz, etc from time to time, but I always seem to end up with a GK as a main amp or even as a spare.
My MB Fusion was bought as a backup to my Mesa M9.... And I gig it a ton. Amazing amp
The MB series (except maybe the odd 200) seem to be rock sold... And all sound killer.

Just good to see a company that started in the late 60's, is a stand a lone still and not owned by Fender or Gibson
Gibson cant do anything right when it come's to bass,,, even when they bought out Steinberger they managed to screw-up that up too !!!!!
Sorry,, didnt mean to get off topic,,, Im just amazed at how bad Gibson sucks when it has anything to do with bass.
But yea,,,,, thats a GREAT thing that GK is not owned or has not been bought out by Fender or Gibson or someone else,,, someone else would just ruin GK and run it to the ground.

Off topic, but Gibson really doesnt focus on bass. They sell more Mandolins and possibly banjos than basses.
The Les Paul Oversized is a great bass IMO. Try one out. They definately don't suck.

My next amp purchase will be an MB series amp. Just have to decide between a MB500 of MB Fusion. It'll go nicely with my 700RBII and my "other" amp.

I love my MB Fusion....I also have a Fusion 550 that is killer too. Obviously, I like the Fusion preamp.
I'd love a Fusion 550, but I'm really digging these lightweight class D amps. How much of a sound/tone difference is there between the two?

Agreed 100% - RAG is the man!!! He, Jeff Genzler, and Larry Hartke are all class acts, IMO...
Although I love my Mesa gear, I doubt I'll ever sell my 700rb-II...

I was surprised at the sound difference. I had two of the MB Fusion amps and then picked up a Fusion 550 on a whim. I fell in love with it. It's obviously bigger and heavier. But, it is a warmer, fuller sound. And it is actually considerably louder even thought they are both 500 watts amps. So, when I am playing a small gig and don't want to bring much with me. I use the MB Fusion. For most other gigs, I have a nice bag that the Fusion 550 slips right into. It's really not big of a deal for me. I just throw the bag over my shoulder and go.
BTW Bass Gear Mag tested the Fusion 550 and found it had a sustained burst power of over 800 watts (836 IIRC)

This is true. We also Link Removed, and found that it puts out an honest 800 watts, continuous, into 4 ohms, with usable burst power of over 1,000 watts. Very impressive from a micro head!

What GK amps are made in the USA? I know neither of the MB combos -- a 1x12 and a 2x10 -- that I've had were. They were made in China.
I don't mind that. If GK can employee engineers here in California (where doing business is nightmare, I might add) and then have the stuff built in China, I'm OK with that. They're delivering a product with a price to functionality ratio that still hasn't been beat in the market, even by other offshore competitors.
My little GKs are so light that I can take them anywhere and so cheap that I don't mind taking them to hell and back. And they get the job done, sound wise. They're great tools.

This thread got me reminiscing about when I was using a 200RCB head..... back in the early 80's I believe......
I had decided that I didn't want to haul heavy stuff since we had PA support at all our gigs.
I got the 200RCB, put it in a SKB 2 space rack and a couple of BFI (Bull Frog Ind.) Bass cabs... a 1X15 and a 1X18, very light (for the time) plywood cabs.
I could load in wheeling [both] cabs, next the Bass and SKB and lastly my gig bag and briefcase.
Simple, clean and very loud, it would fill a good sized room even without PS support !
