Gallien Krueger MB 115-ll 200 watt settings??

Hallo,

I just bought this amp, and I am trying find some sound. I have an active bass. I have some questions, in case some nice people who know would like to answer.

First of all, is the -10db button a default for active basses, or should I try without it. When I disengage it the hisses a lot, I don't know if that's normal.

Furthermore, I have managed to make many midrange sounds pretty easily, some more aggressive some less some sweeter etc. Is there a way to make it sound more round and warm but with punch (not gloomy)??

Also, is the limiter necessary and in which occasions? And how can I push Master volume, boost and gain??

Anyway if you could share your settings on the amp, although I know that every bass sounds different, it would be very helpful!!

Have you downloaded a copy of the MB115-II owners manual? Best way to get the answers you're asking is to continue to experiment with your amp.

Hey loli -
I have the MB115-I. Same amp without the chain option. I use a EBMM Stingray. I don't use the active input at all. I find I can get the max headroom from the amp by using the passive input.
I also use very little tweeter - depends on your bass, what type of tone you're trying to achieve and room acoustics.
I haven't noticed any effct of using the limiter...I don't slap so, maybe its useful for that.
I generally set everything flat (12 o'clock) including boost and go from there.

I've never needed the -10db pad or limiter on my MB500 or MB200, passive and active basses (some VERY hot.)

[edit] I've not used the combo yet, just the separate heads.

i have an MB500 and a very high output passive bass. i tried it with the pad and just wasn't digging it. i just rolled off the gain (used to keep it at about 12 o'clock, now it's at 10:30 or 11) a bit and it's all good. i keep the limiter on when i am gigging. unless you are driving the amp very hard it's not going to change the sound, just protect the speakers just in case the patch cable falls out or something like that. also if i am letting someone else use my rig, i always insist that the limiter switch stay on.
