Gallien Krueger MB112 question

I have a MB112 combo on order, and have a quick question about the lack of a "master" volume.

I have never used an amp with only a gain control, and the MB112 has only the one gain knob. My BL600 and the other GK amps I've used have all had a master volume.

Does the gain knob control the power amp output or does it control the amount of preamp gain sent to the power amp?

The new mini-head MB200 seems to operate the same way. I am assuming that the power amp can be thought of as being "wide open", with the gain knob feeding the amount of pre-gain? Or is this correct?

i'm also wondering about the controls on the MB112 and the MB 200 head .

The amp on the MB115/MB210 is different i think it has a gain a volume and a boost ,,it definitely has more knobs, but i cant get a pick showing what they are.

I have an older version but theres two knobs for the output, I will have to check when I get home to see what they are labled.

Yeah but does this mean the input gain is fixed then? Like on old amps? OR is this really a gain control with the power amp fixed "wide open"?

I had hoped someone from GK would see this post and shed some light. No luck so far.

I guess I will find out when these finally ship.

There is a gain control. This controls the input level into the amp. Imagine it as an input volume knob with an invisible master volume always cranked.

MF has just pushed the release date out to 6/22/2010. I have an MB200 on order. Man, not sure I want to wait for it though. :-(

Yeah, the MB112 date was pushed back into June also.

I can't wait that long, so I am gonna try a MB115 instead. I swapped my order around, there's less of a wait on the MB115.
