Gallien-Krueger MB800

Just got mine and its a beast! Huge improvement over the MB500. Retains its tone all the way to the rails.

I LOVE mine! Besides being more powerful, the MB800 differs from the MB500 in that the preamp is fully discreet FET. The difference is subtle but, IMO, noticeable. It's just so clean and pure. That said, I'm also curious to hear the newer MB800 Fusion with the tube preamp.

When you go back and forth between them at lower volume levels so the little guys can keep up, do you notice a subtle difference in the MB800's clean tone?

To be honest, its been quite awhile since I owned them both at once so my memory is murky at best, but I do remember liking the tone of the mb800 a tiny bit more. As you said, its very subtle. The extra headroom is where the mb800 pulls ahead.

Ok so I tested an MB500 today and I was floored. I A/B'd it with a TH500(former GAS) and it sounded WAY better to my ears. My question is, if money weren't an issue, would you pair the MB500 or MB800 with an HD212 or GK Neo 412? Thanks!

The more 10's the merrier...

I have to agree here. I have owned both the 500 and 800 and while I liked them both the 800 is just a little better to my ears in ways that are hard for me to explain. More 'musical' perhaps but even that's not being fair to the 500 because they are both just awesome in getting the clean, hammering, modern sound I love. And coupled with that, for me, 10's just get it done.
