Haha, tell me about it. Man, the tone I was able to get from that Fusion MB500 and the Berg HD212 was jaw dropping. Just makes me wonder if for the same price ($999) the GK Neo 412 would be a better investment volume wise. The Berg is 80lbs and the GK is 100lbs, so not too much of a difference...

The hydrive 410's are about 60lbs and 1000 watts. Combined with my MB800 its a killer combo.

Why overkill? Is just a fairly basic 2x10, 500w, 60# cab, no? Similar in form and function to my Avatar 210 neo cabs I would think. I had a couple in the past and they were ok. Unless you mean the amp for that cab would be overkill.

I just think "why an 800 watt head, that puts out nearly 1000 watts burst," for a 210 cab that's gonna be good for about 300 watts?

Just the added headroom and punch of the MB800 over the MB500 was enough to sway me. I have a pretty aggressive style and the added girth really was needed.

Gotcha. However I too find the little extra the 800 offers just fine with either one or two Avatar 210 Neo cabs to be more than capable and not too much of a good thing at all. And, the feature package on the 800 is a nice bonus. I am running the 800 master and channel dials at around 12 oclock and one cab at 8 ohms for practice and two cabs at 4 ohms works great and keeps me out of the max zonesband trouble we are talking about.

OK, so I have a MB800 on the way.

Should pair up quite nicely with my Barefaced Big Twin T. However, my main gigging bass is a Sadowsky MV4 so I am a tad worried that this setup will be too much of a good thing. Yin-yin-yin so to speak.

Time will tell.

I had the Compact + MB500 for awhile and really dug it. I think the Barefaced + MB800 combo should sound great. Can't comment on the MV4.

I dig the MV4 a lot, and yes, that VTC is just beautiful. In a band setting I usually want a healthy dose of upper mids and grind. Despite the very forward mid driver in the Big Twin I typically boost a bit there anyway.

Not familiar with the Compact, but I suspect all Barefaced cabs are just different flavour of great.

The Compact definitely had the upper mid thing going on. If you boost the upper mid on the MB800 you will have no lack of grind.

The mb800 and big twin sounds like it would be the polar opposite to your TC rig! Which gigs are you running with each?

Yeah, I would think so too. I really have no issues mixing the two rigs up for various gigs, both rigs deliver plenty IMO. I used to use an Ashdown MK-500 with the Big Twin, very clean but still warm sounding head.

Of course that TC has its own vibe, but I never had problems dialing in what I want. Clean snd modern, burpy mids for fretless, more of a Motown vibe with p-bass and flats etc. All there.

The Big Twin is simply amazing though, but with that particular cab I prefer a more open and uncompressed low end than the RH750 delivers. Cue MZb800... Never cared for the RH750/Big Twin combo, but I dig that head with the RS cabs.

But +1, very different stuff.
