Gallien-Krueger MB800

Received my MB800 today. Needless to say, it is LOUD through a GK 412 NEO cab! I haven't summoned the strength/stupidity to crank it anywhere near its limits yet. Also, it will be played through an MBE410 @ 4 ohms...that cab isn't nearly as efficient as the 412, but it will no doubt be, "loud enough."

LOVE the lights! Us "older" players have a hard time seeing the knobs usually, but this amp cures all that.

It feels funny to not have a "Boost" control, as a longtime GK user, that may take some adjustment.
When cranking the B channel for some distortion, the bottom seems to fall out a little bit. Seems like it wouldn't hurt to reach back and bump the lows a little when going into that channel. I won't be using that anyway, most likely.

All in all, an amazing amount of tone and headroom in an attractive, lit-up, 5 pound package! :hyper:

Man I can't wait for this weekend for first practice with the mb800 and 410 neo. I really hope that its all cut out to be in a band setting. You know with 2 guitards, a loud drummer, keyboards, and 2 vocals... I think 500 watts should be plenty ;)

Do you find that you can get the same sound, by just cranking the Gain control?

Yes. :)

If it is not.........you need hearing aids! :D

I can't think of too many more that are much better. They really don't get much louder and punchier IMO....well without going to the GIANTS....and even then the MB800 holds its own.

I like where its all set.
ps. thats a pic of my wife in front of my amp. hehehehehehe!!!!!

I'm seriously considering getting an MB800 to try out. My question is will it be overkill or more so, dangerous in potential damage to my cabs? I currently have 1 Bergantino AE112 rated at 300w and am looking at adding another AE112 or AE210. I will at times run 1 cab and also 2 cabs together.

In the past I have run two similar Berg HT112 cabs with a Markbass LMII. I can't ever see me needing more power than what that setup offered. But dang it, its the shiny lights that is sucking me in!! or should I do the "logical" thing and get the MB500 ;)

I know 800 is more than I need but if I am careful with the volume, do you see a problem running these cabs with the 800 ? Other than the lights, will it give me an advantage with the 800? The only thing I can think of is if I get some bigger cabs down the line.

Thanks
