Gallien-Krueger MB800

Hey all!

Finally, just acquired MB800! Didn't have a change to run it thru a cab yet, still waiting for neo 410 to arrive. Did a quick line out test, and it sounds amazing into USB interface!

Now question! I am a bit paranoid about Gain / Master volume knobs (sorry if this was asked before). I know they are push in kind of knobs and differ from the rest, but they feel super flimsy and have loose travel. Rest feel tight and ... awesome.

I did try 2 of the other MB800s just to compare, and it looks like this is the way they are.

Any one had any issues with this during the gig? Would it be easy to miss-place the knob?

Just bought a new MB800 that has the high freq. whine that several people have posted about right out of the box at low vol. with in minutes. This HF wine will change in pitch if I turn master up or down when the noise is present. Sometimes i can make it stop for a short time by switching channels or toggling the headphone/line out switch on the back but it will be return in a few minutes. Chose not to use it this past weekend and plan to call GK today.
I will report their response here.
Would like to hear if any of the previous posters have resolved their issues!

So my post above, seems like i was worrying for a reason...

One of the gain knobs/pods is actually so loose, that when i played it out of neo 4x10 cab at moderately loud level.. the vibration actually moved it down :( ... and it became quieter.

Gotta take this one back to the store. I sure hope, this was just a lemon I got and next one is fine.

I had that issue with a old MB500, they took care of it quick, fast, an in a hurry and were very nice about it. I've not had any issues with my MB800, but if i do I'm confident that GK will take care of me.

Yes, you got a lemon. The knobs shouldn't be loose at all.

I spoke with the folks at GK yesterday at their request I UPS'd my unit to them, gave them the track number, and they r sending me a new unit today! I have to say so far I'm very pleased with the customer service!

I posted the following in the MB Fusion 800 thread, but perhaps it's more relevant here:

They do seem to have all the other GK amps....

Thats strange. GK has a TB presence ask them, its probably nothing to worry about though.

GK is big, open, dynamic, quick, more immediacy to the attack, a bit more aggressive in the upper mids, and a bit more bite up top (but not harsh). Can dial in some growl/snarl if you drive the Gain higher and the Master lower.

Both are very clear and articulate.

I have a GK mb500, great amp! Can really push it out and makes my fEARful's flap my pants legs.
BUT, very soon I'll be looking at the GK mb fusion 800....
All the goodness of the mb800 with a tube pre!

I spoke with a rep from GK. They're being shipped or were shipped this week. At least the mb fusion 800's will be.
I spoke with a vendor and he's expecting a few on Friday June 7th, I guess that would be today!:hyper:
