Ask twice what you’re prepared to accept when selling. As a buyer, offer half the asking price and be prepared to walk unless extenuating circumstances arise.

That is a fair price for what we've established as a credible, desirable old instrument.

Why do folks insist on bottomfeeder mentality???? Reality is closer to "as a buyer, offer half the asking price" and be prepared for no response because you've offended the seller and someone else will have bought it, so now you're spending the next three years regretfully trying to find a similar deal, instead of recognizing a fair price for a fair product and using it to make $100 a night every weekend for the next three years.....

Whatever I am selling, I ask for what I consider to be a fair price. If someone offered me half of that as a first bid I would simply show him the door. If I see a listing for an item which is much overpriced, I do not respond. I've never experienced these CL rules, nor would I participate in them.

Thanks for all your help everyone! I visited Bob Ross here in Denver he had a Shen SB88 out on loner. After it was returned Bob set it up and sold it to me. This thing pumps some serious tone for a ply bass. I'm playing a late night bluegrass set tomorrow night high in the rocky mountains. Thanks again ya'll!
