GAS Rant

I seriously HATE GAS! I am in a very difficult financial situation right now where I'm in the process of paying for a wedding and shopping for a house. I don't have the extra money to buy a set of strings, let alone a bass... I don't even want to listen to music anymore! I was all content with my three basses until yesterday when I listened to Eric Clapton's "One More Car, One More Rider" concert again (which is my favourite live album/DVD).

I have spent ALL night googling Nathan East's signature bass, and I couldn't even sleep! I don't have a 5-sting and just feel like that's the one... Too bad it's like $2300. Then I go ahead and watch the Unplugged concert of Youtube, and BAM! He's playing an acoustic... AAARRRGGGH!!!! I need one of those too!

I really think I need to win the lottery to fulfill my GAS, my fiance totally support my bass-playing/purchasing, and gets upset when I discuss selling any bass. She actually wants me to have a bass collection, but obviously now is NOT the time to add to it. It just drives me nuts, and I do nothing else when I'm GASing... I can't sleep, I don't shower, I don't do ANYTHING productive, I can't even focus on bass playing, it totally consumes me...

Sorry for the rant, it's all I could do to let this go and move on... Hopefully

The various Nathan East Signature basses have all been nice active, quality active basses. The latest has jazz pickups. They are nice basses, but there is nothing supernatural about them. Actually working at your playing so you can get within the same area code as Nathan East is whole lot more important than a particular bass. Any quality five string will do!
