GB 15sub Issues

I screwed up the title, It's a GreenBoy fEARful!!!..I have built a preliminary version of the 15sub. I used standard plywood I had on hand, but no vibration issues. I installed extra bracing..tic tac toe style, rather than a single cross style, because of the less than ideal grade of wood.. GB said extra bracing is good. The main issue , is I haven't installed damping material yet. I just couldn't wait to try out the new cab with the new 3015LF. The system starts farting at about 150 watts. Smiley EQ, bass boost engaged(@ 3 oclock, but not sub-bass.( Behringer BX3000T-300w), using a 18" sub along with the 15sub to get the 4ohms for the amp. Speaker phase good, backing off when the output clip lite engages. Either the damping makes a HUGE difference, and I'm jumping the gun on worrying too much, or I'm whizzing in the wind with this design. Still can't get into the GB site OK, haters hate, flamers flame, but I still need serious feedback.HELP!

Yeah, damping matters. So does smiley eq's and bass boost buttons. 18 subs mixed with 15 subs, no harmonics, and I'm sure a few other things.

If this for a PA, you really don't want to mix subs. If it's a bass rig...it's not a bass rig with all sub and no harmonics. Some of your "farting" could be lack of port area, but not if you followed Greenboy's plans. More likely crap plywood, shoddy construction, bad glue joints, no crossbracing, vibrating panels, lack of proper use of eq, etc.

It can be helped/remedied, but you're going to have to provide a lot more detail than you just did.

Are you sure the amplifier isn't overdriving? The 18" sub may have a low pass built in that would make amp distortion less noticeable. Just another variable I figured I'd throw in...

You have 2 completely different subs fighting each other rather than augmenting each other, but, somehow, I have a feeling that might not be your only problem. "Smiley eq" says you're looking for treble....which you're not going to get with that. Also looking for loud "bedroom tone" which just plain doesn't work.
