GB Rip off?

Agree on their customer service being stellar. I recently had some issues with a new Streamliner 600, called them to talk to customer service. Jeff, the owner, called me back himself, talked through the issue, consulted with his tech guys, and shipped me two new tubes (with a return shipping label at their expense, as they wanted to inspect the replaced tubes to make sure they nailed it). All in a matter of a few days.

Now that is customer service.

I cannot understand why someone who evidently wants help begins by starting an insulting thread. The good folks at G-B are much more polite than I, as I would have been tempted to tell him to s**t in his hat, pull it down over his ears, and call himself Lady GaGa.

The entire thread is unnecessary and should have been avoided by communication with G-B.

And that's everything that needs to be said.

While I agree that the OP should have stated his post in a much different way, a lot of it comes down to someone blasting one of TB's Golden Calves. And I hate to play the OG card, but I've been hip to G-B gear long before it became trendy on this forum. G-B makes great stuff, but if the OP doesn't feel that it suits him, that's cool. If the OP was talking about Behringer, I doubt there would have been as much backlash; in fact, I imagine there would have been people agreeing with him, even with the way he worded his original post. Actually, I bet there would have been people agreeing with him if he were talking about Eden.

I guess, in a roundabout way, my point is that sometimes the brand obsession and loyalty on this forum is a little too much for me at times. I dig my Carvin basses, Mesa amp, and Aguilar cabs, but if someone doesn't dig them, that's cool to me. I've actually read a lot of negative things here about Carvin instruments that were bordering on scathing, but it doesn't get me all up in arms.

You're missing the point.

I had an issue with a GBE750 years ago. I raised it with Genz, and they moved mountains to try and sort it. For whatever reason (bad luck, probably) it didn't happen despite, their best efforts. I went with another manufacturer instead.

At no time would I have considered a headline along the lines of 'GB Rip off?'.

The fact it's GB is Irrelevant.

I've had three different version of SansAmps. I didn't like them. I bought an Eden head once. I hated it. I went to see Cars 2 last week. It was disappointing.

But... I wasn't ripped off.

If you really can't see why the OP's approach is so dumb, I don't know what else to say...

Again, I don't think he stated himself in the best way possible. But I can't deny a lot of people getting their undies in a wad is because the company in question is so revered. Again, I know it's a counterfactual and really can't be confirmed, but my spidey senses tell me that if the OP substituted Behringer for G-B, the responses would have been different. Also, that's not a slam against G-B, either. As I stated, they make great gear.

Post the link to a similar thread for another manufacturer, and we'll see.

If you can find one, that is.

I'm not sure you will. Hence the reaction.....
