GC labor day sale find

The Lubbock store sucked. They've been out of a few Ampeg models for some time now. All they had was GK and Behringer. A few combos from Fender, GK, Behringer and Ibanez.

I went in there to buy a Squier P-bass in metallic blue since I saw 3 in there the day before. I was there right at 8 and there was only one left at $99 and the older guy in front of me scooped it up. There was a black one, but the sales guy told me he could go no lower than $140. He said the metallic blue was a discontinued color so that's why it was $99. Was he full of crap?

The online bass "sale" is truly a crapper.:scowl:

Forgot about the deal until i saw this, got down to the local GC at about one, out of rockbasses, the GC in the town over out, but a store somewhere in california had some left.... My new rockbass will be at my door here in Minnesota in four days. Ended up paying 144.xx for bass, gig bag, and shipping. Very possible that it will end up as a fretless.

Yeah I forgot about making it a fretless I guess I should have grabbed one :(

How often do they have sales this fantastical? When's next time?

The Labor Day sale is a biggie. However, there are Halloween sales, Presidents' Day sales, etc. They had something called a "Radio" sale a couple months ago--there was a printed list and some serious markdowns. Even if you don't buy today it's not a bad idea to go check prices to see how low they'll go. I've got my eye on a Korg Radias synth that normally costs $1200. At the Radio sale it was marked down to $959...I'll keep that in mind when I'm ready to buy.

I've found that my local GC (El Cerrito, CA) is pretty open to offers, especially on used gear that's been there a little while. Most of the employees at this GC are cool and are motivated to deal (even at non-sale times) if they see you're serious.

A big corp. like GC is at least as interested in quickly turning inventory as it is in getting top dollar on every item. I don't grind salespeople for killer deals at local mom & pop stores but there's no shame in doing so at GC.

I got a few sets of the fatbeams for 7.50. They said they were not going to sell any more strings because they were too far marked down. With my recent discovery of denatured alcohol, these two sets will keep my 4string jazz happy until the next sale.

$299 for a sunburst MIM jazz was a great deal, but I just couldn't make myself feel like I needed it.

I read this post then went to GC in hopes of stocking up on strings for cheap. When I got there no strings were on sale. And the best deals they had were Schecter Stilettos for $200 and some Ibanez p-bass for $100 not sure of the model. I wanted strings darn it:crying: I should have called ahead.

i loaded up on strings, including elixirs for $12 a set! i've had a set on my geddy for over a year now, and they sound exactly the same as when i put them on, so i should be set for a while. i also got a set of rotosound flats for my P (man, i love them!)for 10.50 and a few other odd sets, too.

not too much else of note at the youngstown, OH store. i am still coasting on the $199 highway one P that i got NEW at their 4th of july sale.

The Paramus, NJ store had a new SVT-CL for $800, a new Warwick Thumb 5 Neck Thru for $2000, a new Fender B-Dec 30 for $100, and a used SWR 350x for $80.

I didn't see any Rockbasses there, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen any there.

All I got was a Peterson Stroboflip for $180.

10:30 AM - GC Clackamas, Oregon

Out of Warwick Rockbasses. I did not look at many other axes cause' I have 6 already. I did see some good deals on Yamaha's though. More than half off.

Got 4 packs of GHS Bass Boomers for about $5.00 each and some 5 string Slinky's for my Strat for $1.50. Sick deals on strings.

I should have bought more, but the amount I play these will last a LONG time.

The Marcus Miller and Colored DR "Black Beautys' were NOT on sale at my store.

The cable wall had been virtually cleared out. Almost ALL the Monster stuff was gone.

The GK heads were on sale. The 1001RB-II was $699.00. I bought mine at the same store about 6 months ago for $599 or so.

Happy hunting!!!

I walked in thinking that I'd get some strings. DR's were selling for between 7 - 10 bucks, so I definitely grabbed some of those.

I had to fight the temptation to grab an Ibanez SR506 for $505.00. I won that battle, but ultimately lost because I demo'd it through a Markbass Little Mark II head. These weren't on sale, but just the fact that my local GC had one was a bonus. I'm now trying to decide between it and my Epi UL502.
