I got to my local at 8:01am this morning. I was back in my car at 8:07am. The trip wasn't a total loss, I did come home with a half dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

GC Memorial Day Blowout .... Yawn...

I picked up a super deal today but it wasn't in the usual bass spot. it was back in the corner with the used stuff. All the used stuff was marked WAY down. I pickup up a near mint Carvin AC40 bass for $200!!! I could easily turn around and sell it for more than double but I think I will keep it. Other than that not much going on at my GC. I think I got the steal of the day. But it's sad. It used to be that on sale days you'd see atleast half a dozen people here on TB got a great deal. Even the previous best before this wasn't great... you can pick up used SUBs in mint condition for about $400. I got a steal. i guess that makes up for the $99 rockbass I missed out on labor day.
Almost was tempted to pick up a used SVT-3 Pro for only $199 but it was slightly broken so that explained it. the 5 position switch didn't work on one and the other didn't make any sound and was missing a knob.

At the San Marcos location, it was the best sale I've seen in years. They had those Boss Fender (FDR-1 and FBM-1) pedals at $79.95 each ($235 list, $149 street). One guy bought two of each, and I ended up buying the last two. Never out of the box. I figured I could flip 'em on E-bay, if you guys wouldn't get too indignant over it.
My lead guitarist has been trying to get them to sell him a Vox VC-12 foot controller for months, and they kept saying they had to get $225 for them. He bought two of them today for $75 each. He can sell one for $150, so his will be free. The best deals were on cables. All unpackaged cables were $10. I bought two $75 12-gauge speaker cables and a couple Monster guitar cables.
Not much on basses. They had an Epiphone EBO for $179. I played it through an SVT-4. Nothing but muff.
It was really weird when we got there. The parking lot was full, so we figured they'd be letting people in a few at a time. When we got to the door, there were about 10 people up there waiting. Turns out, all the cars were the employees'. There was no shortage of help today. We worked with Flock and Jon.

I asked my main man at GC about the "no discount" thing, and he said that some stores are doing it and others are not. He said he'd still cut me some decent deals. My thought is that, if they can't cut at least 8 percent off MAP, then why wouldn't I just order it from AMS, no tax, no shipping?
Oh, and you left out The Perfect Bass and The Bass Place.
I got one of the Fender FSR P-basses for $400. Fifty bucks off regular price. Not an amazing deal, but I had been planning on buying this particular bass anyways so it was nice to get a little discount on it.
My store had the $10 cables bin that Munji mentioned, but I was leary of buying them. I do NOT have good luck with "open-boxed" stuff like that.

I love to solder. I can make them better than new if they don't work. And the Monster cables can be taken to another GC tomorrow and exchanged for brand new ones. Ditto Mogami.
Oh man, and to think that I lived in Tucson for 3 years! Totally slipped my mind.
No, I am aware of its location. I used to drag my friends there every time we went to a Diamondbacks game. Rainbow Music is cool too. And who doesn't love 4th ave, especially the Surly Wench.

Well the two GC's in my area were a big disappointment like the rest. THe first one had a couple basses that were about $50 off or so. Best deal was a new Aerodyne Jazz for $550.. And the other one only had signs hanging in the bass room that was 5% off anything bass related. 
I was hoping for the $513 HWY 1 P Bass deal they had at the last sale.. :scowl:
Best deal i saw at the second store was buy any tube amp and cab for $1800+ and get a free Gibson Les Paul Studio or SG...

Clackamas didnt have anything eather It wasnt even worth the trip. It seems to me you can get better deals when they arent having sales. One sale a long time ago I got a great deal this was in 2004 though. I got my mim fender jazz for 350. I never see any good basses in the used section at the clackamas gc usualy just the newer bc riches and a few squires.
