GC ruins warwick experience!!!

Yep, anohter one I forgot.

I was standing behind someone in line, and they were buying a Martin acoustic and the clown tried to weasel him out of another $150 for the case. I spoke up with my little 'ahem, you know Martins come with a case from the factory, especially the D-41's'

The salesman shot me a nasty look as he gave it to them for free.

Needless to say, he wasn't exactly keen on dealing with me. Good thing I only needed a bag of picks :)

Doing your homework is certainly important, but it does not excuse dishonest, unethical business practices. IMO, if it doesn't come with a case fine, but if it does and they remove it, that's shady.

I made an even swap with them a couple years back. Traded my MIA Fender FMT V for a used MIA '57 RI. As some of you know, the RI comes with a tweed hard case. They tried to tell me that it wasn't included, so I told them that the nice brown GG case wasn't included with my FMT either. Ended up leaving with my FMT case and the '57.

A lot of times what happens is a bass and bag (i.e. a warwick and a rockbag) are built into the system and labeled "exploded". This term means that they are separately built into the system, and the price hanging from the guitar is ONLY for the guitar. If you see the description "WC" on the tag, then a case is included. With Warwicks, or anything for that matter, ask the employee if a case is included. If it is not included at the price on the tag, work with the salesman to give you the guitar and bag/case for that price shown. Usually employees are able to work with prices, although some manufacturers create a hard minimum price on items.

As for the Rockbag specifically, every single Warwick bass shipped to GC is sent in this bag. Whether it's a Corvette or a SSII or an Infinity, every bass comes in one. And my opinion is that the bag is phenominal. It provides insane padding on the inside and a number of useful pockets for storage.

Well guitar center owned up to what they called a "mistake" and exchanged the broken bag for an SKB hardcase. Of course I paid the difference. They were very nice about it all though.

HOWEVER... on the way home from GC I nearly left this world via a three story drop off the highway and over a gaurd rail. Car is finito and my Girlfriends legs are pretty banged up. My right arm got pretty beat up and I am supposed to hit the studio in 12 hours!!! Damn! Oh well...

Looks like it was a day for accidents, I crashed my motorcycle today. I am fine and the bike only needs a bit of work. Always wear a helmet, it saved my life.

Glad that you got it all sorted out.

My Corvette Standard came with a gig bag which I got for free, but mine also broke after I used it a couple times. I wanted a HSC to protect it anyway; for $1,500 I think I'd want to protect it as much as possible.

Right! Hey, they might have got the extra $140 for that OHSC they charged me but they lost all future business from me!

Just a week ago I got a bad case of the GAS and wanted a fretless warwick - insted of buying the $900 Corvette GC was offering I manged to gather the extra $$ and baught a Thumb from fellow TB'er lbpark (great guy).

I'm done with GC.

When I bought my Corvette, I traded the gig bag and paid an extra $30 for a hardshell Yorkville case. In less than one week that case died! The neck cradle was made out of med-low density foam padding that crushed in on itself. I traded that in on a defective product claim and paid an extra $40 for a Gator Stealth hardshell case...no problems since!

most usa made guitars/basses are shipped in their hardshell case.

usually the price you see on the tag does not include this case.

i found this out when i purchased my music man. the guy said, it's 1040.00, cause is another 100. he ended up throwing in the case because i told him i would walk out with nothing had it not included a case.

my mia p-bass, that i got at gc was shipped in a hardshell case. i ended up paying extra for the case. a lot of the time gc will put a price that does not include a case. sometimes it does. you have to pay attention to it. had the fender case not been 70. i would have walked out without a case and used my skb that i had for my mim p.

if i purchased any american made instrument, i expect a case to be included in the sticker price. usually it is not. oh well.

Oh don't even get me started on that store. You will only see me at Gizzardos or Randees music. Say what you will. At least those guys have a clue of what they are talking about. Did you try GCs MIA Fender Jazz they had there sad sad. Oh may I add it is worth the toll/gas money to go see Mark at The Chicago Bass Club!

if the bass comes with a case from the manufacturer, and the dealer separates it and sells it for list, this could be a violation of the dealer agreement with the manufacturer..

if GC is doing this with *known* manufacturers that include cases/bags.. notify the manufaturer about what GC is doing..

if it were me, i'd return the bass and gigbag and take my money elsewhere.. and if they wanted to keep the sale, they would have to include the original case/bag and a steep discount for attempting a sham..

don't let GC get away with ANYTHING..
