GC snubs us bass players again

It’s marketing. They often do research and calculate the maximum return on investment of their marketing expenditure. Focusing on bass players probably doesn’t make sense for them.

Consider the fact that being a bass player is a bit more “exclusive” than being a guitar player. We are not that similar to them. They tend to focus on all kinds of things we don’t. In my experience, you can pick a random bass player out of the population, and they are more likely to have less gear than a typical guitar player. They are also more likely to be focused on playing in bands and gigging with other musicians. I think guitar players are more likely to be gear heads, collectors, and “bedroom” players. There is also just a lot more of them. I just accept that.

But.....maybe I am way off.
I read - in USA, 120 guitars are sold for every 1 bass sold.

I get mailers from them too...a whole page of which is always dedicated to a fine print list of all the products that don't fall under their sale!

What are you talking about it's just a few name brands that are excluded:

To be fair, those mfrs' terms prohibit GC from including them in those promotions. Most of the time, if you ask, you'll get the discount, because the mfrs can't prevent GC from selling their products at whatever price they choose.

I’ve never had a GC coupon denied for any of the listed brands. I’ve done this many, many times. Just ask.

I noticed that as well. There was a picture of one on the very last page but the add was for lessons or something. There was also one of the new Peavey 10" combos but that was it. No love for us from GC.

Our Guitar Center never had much bass stuff. A little Markbass, Fender, Acoustic, some used amps. Maybe 20 basses hanging on the wall, mostly Fender, very few if any 5's. My point is that as far as bass equipment goes it hasn't changed that much.

What's gone are all the pedals. Just gone.

I have! But then we're likely visiting different locations. I've shopped that location since the late 90's and they used to always hook me up. Now I ask for discounts, and they look at me like I just beamed down from Mars. They are rigid in their policy. Even though I bought my first bass and rig there, well, what have I done for them lately?
