GC snubs us bass players again

So I got the new Guitar Center holiday catalog in today. The thing was huge, especially for a GC catalog. I got excited and started flipping through it, excited to see what they were going to advertise for basses... I flipped, and flipped, and flipped.

NOT... ONE.... BASS

Even brass and trumpets get a few pages, but no bass!

Just shows you what GC thinks about us.

I mean.. Usually we get at least a page or 2 with Fenders, Mitchell, Markbass, and Acoustic. They didn't even do that. It really kind of struck me.

I am long past caring what GC does or doesn’t do; what they might have been in previous decades is irrelevant to what they are now.

Maybe it’s a 2 book catalogue and you didn’t get book 2 which is entirely Bass stuff. Confront your post office delivery person, who probably plays bass.

Sellers devote catalog space to what sells — not to what some like to look at, but what sells. This merely says basses don’t sell so much. That shouldn’t be a surprise.

My thoughts exactly, IDT it had bass strings either? Went to recycle pretty quick.

They don't call it 'Bass Center' for a reason.

Buy used.

GC is a business. They exist to make a profit. If basses outsold guitars, you might see that catalog exclude guitars. It's marketing. Promote what sells. Nothing new here.

I feel exactly the same. Just got a big Sweetwater catalogue this past week, or maybe it was Musician’s Friend, and thought... why?
