Geddy Jazzenbacker!

I spent last night thinking about how I chose to see things here and realized that I'd simply assembled one of what could be a dozen plausible scenarios and decided it was THE scenario. Then I very publicly vented my spleen here.

I said things about a fellow TB'er that were unfair and insulting and I honestly regret that. He did not deserve any of what I said. In my rush to judgment and because of my own tunnel-visioned narrow-mindedness, I behaved very poorly - but that's no excuse.

Bassbadger (David), I am deeply sorry for what I said. I am going to remove my comments from this thread. They only detract from the original topic and do harm in general.

Again, I am sincerely sorry.

Hi Tony,

Thank you so much for your apology. It takes integrity to put your hand up when you have made a mistake and I appreciate the fact that you have done so.

All the best for the future.

Regards,

David

I emailed the guy to see if I can get one shipped to the USA ... still no answer.

Got an email back the other day that might have some validity on this topic:
I have been investigating shipping charges to the US and the best I can find is £90! So the answer is yes, I can ship to the US but it is expensive. You should also bear in mind that you may be liable for whatever import duty the US adds to guitars coming in.

Thank you for your interest.
Regards,
David

Honestly? I'm thinking about it.

I am thinking I may get one of these and convert it into a 5 string bass. I would add a 5th tunder to the neck, put in a new nut, replace the bridge, and swap out the pickups. Then I would have to decide on passive or active electronics.

Is it just me or does this look like a Dean bass with a Fender headstock.

Those of you interested in five string versions, why not hold off a bit and see if one is released anyway? There were five string versions of the Ric's and the Jazz's (I think) before this combination. I quite like this, and the jazz basses were really good quality, I imagine these will be too.

First time seeing this thread. A Rickenbacker/Jazz fusion bass, really affordable price, AND a dispute was solved in a classy and timely manner? Is this real life???

But for realsies though, that's one sweet instrument. Are there any soundclips of this model? Someone posted the RV4 earlier, but I'd like to hear how this model sounds.

Picturing that bass refin'd like this...

...to give it a Rickenbacker-on-acid feel. Me gusta.

I received my white Vantage about a month ago, I'm led to believe it was the last white one of its batch and had a small blemish on the lower horn that I can't seem to find. It's a great bass, the MM at the bridge is just so powerful, and the neck pickup ain't too shabby either ;) . The only thing I'm not too keen on is the position of the neck pickup, although I will happily have that one small problem on what seems to be an outstanding bass for what it's sold for :hyper:

I would definitely be interested in one of these at the selling price, but the UK to USA thing could be wrought with danger!

Besides the actual costs involved, US customs could possibly seize one of these for the Rickenbacker copyright violation stuff. While they may eventually release it back to you since it is not an exact copy of a Ric body, it could be tied up in Limbo for a couple of years while they sort it out!
