Geddy lee jazz output volume

I own a GL and just don't understand. I don't have this problem. I'm also 57 and can still hear after 40 years of playing which might also give you a clue.

Hi phillybass
Like I said earlier in the thread I need to have my peavey tour 450 on near full volume to be heard.
If I play the ibanez the amp only needs to be on half volume.
Perhaps something wrong with my GL?
Confused now, don't want to waste money on pups as I do like the tone, not so keen on thrashing the amp.
Thanks for the reply

Have it checked out by a local tech and see what happens. Remember I'm a funk player and I don't have to contend with rock guitars or rock drummers. In Funk bass is the place to be. I played mine at a funk gig with a Trace Elliot GPSM7 (280 watts) thorugh an eden 2x12 cab and my dials on the amp were at 12 oclock. Plenty loud enough for what I do. I suspect that you play really loud music and remember the GL is a passive bass. swap out the pickups if you think the output is too low but you still like the way the bass feels in your hands.

Hi all
Just fitted the quarter pounders the geddy and what a difference!
Can't recommend these highly enough, tone, output volume is fantastic, had them fitted by a local guitar tech as suggested by you guys and its made a world of difference to the bass.
Hope this helps any of you out there wondering which pups to go with,I play in a hard rock covers band and they suit our sound perfectly,as our drummer says, puts the balls back in to the sound

Congrats. So is the bass just louder or is it better and louder. how would you describe the difference besides it having more well you know!!!

Hi phillybass
The tone seems fuller than the with the stock pups, the output with both pups on max means the amp doesnt need to be on near full pre and post gain as before. As an example the bass on the EQ was on full, now I have more bottom end than I need.
I have also put some rotosound rsl66lf strings on instead of the ernie balls that I normally use which could be helping.
All in all a good result-just didn't expect to be having to change pups on what was an expensive bass initially!
