Geddy has always been an idol of mine. A bassist of his caliber that sings is just hard to find. He like Paul McCartney surprises me at the choices of "what" notes he chooses to play. So many will work, but certain choices are unorthodox and bring a lot of pizazz to the track.

what's more interesting, geddy seems to have the same tone no matter what bass he's playing. (i like his tone BTW)

It's all in his technique, although there is a marked difference between is his Rick and Wal tones. I find his Fender tone to be "smoother" and perhaps more tame. His Wal tone was my favorite.

I've got a stock Geddy Lee Jazz and I love it. Alot of his tone (currently anyway) comes from all the DI boxes he uses. The man doesn't even use a stack when he plays live. I'd say it was probably easier on his roadies back if it weren't for the laudry machines they carried instead.
