You should listen to grace under pressure... It really feels like it could be signals part 2.... Except for the bass tone, but its cool sounding too.
They should remix signals and exit stage left and fix the guitars and redo vapor trails for everything! Such a great album, but so hard to listen to the whole thing.
Wow, you're kidding...Rush's two most popular albums are winning this poll? What a surprise!

Even I have a couple of Ampeg products I don't likeHey Jimmy, I am a Rush fan like you are An Ampeg fan. And I didn't know they have two most popular albums! Every real Rush fan knows: they are ALL favorites!!![]()
They did remix "One Little Victory" and "Earthshine" on the Retrospective CD where they appear. It's a pretty substantial remix, too - they pulled a ton of mud out, removed low end boominess from the drums, and really moved the bass up in the mix via more midrange.Nobody should be asked to "redo" that state of mind, but I do wish someone would find a way to do a better mix.
Love his Moving Pictures era tone(s), but my fav is the Wal on Power Windows/Hold Yer Phire.
I vote Counterparts. I like his Jazz tone, but I think he's taken the effects and overdrive too far on the very recent albums. Counterparts was a nice raw jazz tone with a little drive; perfect for their music.
After really, really wanting to like Clockwork Angels, I've decided that it's a complete sonic disaster overall, and I can't stand to listen to it anymore. The bass tone isn't the problem there, but it doesn't help. After Vapor Trails was so horrible as to produce an industry case study on overcompression (ProRec website, now taken down), you'd think they would have been more careful.

I agree; similar tone as on Counterparts, IMO. What he's done since sounds a little too saturated for my ears. It's not on your list, but my favorite Geddy tone is the opening riff off of My Favourite Headache, his solo album.
The bass tone on Freewill is freakin' incredible!
