That was the album that made me a Rush fan and is still among my favorites. As a teenager in the 80s, that album and Grace Under Pressure together pretty much defined the decade for me, with the high tech futuristic thinking of the time being represented by Signals, and the fear of nuclear war represented by GUP. I loved their back catalogue, too, but these two albums left a huge impression on me.
A farewell to kings...
I remember when the album came out, I took it to a buddy's place, we sat down and just listened...
Cygnus came on and we just looked at each other, slack jaws, dumbfounded at the absolute awesomeness of that compressed sound.

I like all his stuff. Hard to believe he'll be 60 this year.
Geddy will be 60 in late July, and Alex turns 60 in late August.Believe he'll be 62. Gotta look it up.

As far as Geddy's best tone, tough call but I'm going with Moving Pictures.
His tone on Fifth Order of Angels is my personal favorite. Pretty sure it's a Precision into Ampeg/Sunns.
However, since that isn't an option, I'll go with his tone from RUSH, followed by Fly by Night.
