I cut my teeth on Black Sabbath. Geezer made you work. Learning those early songs, like "Into the Void", were great lessons for a kid with nothing under his belt. My fingers were trained from the start.
the thing with 'Ol Geezer is that he plays a self taught style, so theres a lot of fifths,thirds, and pedaling in his playing. personally i like it and i think his playing was amazing. although he's no John Paul Jones.
Got my first Penco bass in 1970, guess who I listened to as well.

The biggest PLUS one can give for a bassist. imho, Jack Bruce pioneered what is modern day bass playing. And Geezer perfected it. I did not start to play because of him as I am a little younger than that generation(Cliff Burton got me started), but once I heard his playing I knew I would never play a different instrument than bass. No matter how many times he is imitated he is still the original. Pardon my language, but he is just the baddest ****ing bass player EVER.
I donnow, 'cause I have asked 'em, but I have no doubt in my military mind even Victa would give props to Geezer for what he done.

I remember being a kid and seeing California Jam on TV way before there was cable networks...bands like ELP, Deep Purple,and of course Black Sabbath...I was used to the Beatles etc... it blew my mind, Geezer is creative....he has a great sense of time and his note selection is impeccable. Nice memories...thanks for the post.
