Geezer Butler. + or -?

He wrote all early Sabbath lyrics.
He is a case study for any rock bassist on how to adlib using scales like minor pentatonic.
One bass player can't be everything to all players. You have to just look at what he did and did well and appreciate him for that.
This thread calls for a Classic Geezer picture:

i'd have to say that his early stuff on the first few sabbath albums is amazing, i haven't really listened to any of his new stuff, but some of the latter sabbath stuff had strange bass tones and not as good of bass lines. He seems inconsistent in his work, but definitely an innovative player...... POSITIVE

A few other classic bass players from the period have been mentioned. And, to me, Geezer is in a class by himself.

But I do just wanna drop the name o' Lemmy Freakin' Kilmister here.

Because he is certainly in this same pantheon of greats along with Butler, Daisley, Dennis Dunaway, etc.

+1 !!!

Geezer is perfect bassist for Sabbath!

If you were to be able to pick anyone else "who would you choose". I don't think anyone else could possibly take his place. Sure someone else could play the licks and do the gig but Nobody could be his replacement.

From Warpigs, to Heaven and Hell and on and on and on....Without Geezer there is no Sabbath!

Boring???? No Way!

Pure Awesomeness ( is that a word?)
Geezer in my opinion is all +++++++++'s :bassist:

Huge plus. as huge as you can possibly imagine, to the 3d power.

You should stop hanging out with anyone who would dare say such nonsense about Geezer. Not every bass player has to be a superfast virtuoso, and even if you don't go for the heavy rock, you should be able to recognize when a player is doing his job INCREDIBLY well.

And what was with that one poster's Blue Cheer dis on page 1? Dickie Peterson rocks!
