Gene and Jaco in the same sentence is blasphemy. In Gene's defense, I saw a video of him getting a lesson from Carol Kaye and he was humble and a gentleman.

this is fair...but, come ON, saying Paul McCartney and Jaco in the same sentence is just as far of a reach...but you'll get told to go right to the bad place if you forking say shirt like that

(and as for being smug...come on, listen to McCartney's totally dismissive tone about Jamerson on the Shadows recording...even at 13 I thought "this guy is an a-hole"...or, you know, his railroading of his compositions over the much more accomplished ones of his bandmates)

I've been a big KISS fan since the mid 70's and have seen them many times. Is Gene a great bass player? Not particularly. I think he's a very good bass player who shows up, gets the job done, and entertains people. And he's made a hell of a lot of money doing it. Good for him.

There’s no question that Sir Paul has a lot of lunkhead in him, and has forever, but none of it is malicious, just oblivious.

Gene is one of the most wealthy bass players. One more thing to love/hate about him. He gets my respect for his success.

I just think we as humans need to realize that we have options. We have free will. We are all entitled to our opinions. Some like Gene some do not. Some like Jaco some do not. If we all liked the same things about Bass Playing or life in general. It would all be rather dull. If a person doesn't care for another's interests then there are other avenues they can pursue
