Depends on your tonal goals. We already know the Shuttle series leans towards a "hi-fi" sound. The Streamliner has been described as much more "vintage" sounding. I.E. warmer, rounder, thicker. Though nobody's actually heard one yet. I'm sure one of our fellow TB'ers will get one of these puppies on launch day and post their review. We can decide from there.

Unless you desperately need an amp today, I'd wait another month and make do with what you've got. IMO, if the Streamliner lives up to hype, GB's market share is about to go through the roof. Now is a great time to be a bassist!

What's interesting to me is the Shuttle 9.0 is already plenty capable of sounding thick, warm and vintagy, so I'm curious what more the Streamliner can offer.

Interesting.

There are those who have stated the Shuttle 9.0 is Hi Fi but none of the folks that say this own one and are a proponent.

The Shuttle 9.0's tone is much different than the 12.0. It is (from the get go/set flat) very thick round and warm. It has this tubey gewy chewy thing going that is not at all like the other Shuttles.

The Shuttle Max 12.0 is a very defined 3D clarity thing happening.

Not sure what the Streamliner could add that the 9.0 can not....







but I'm going to find out.:D

And that's the plan - I'm actually pretty happy right now, so no need to rush, my trusty GBE400 is doing just fine. However, it will be interesting to see how this all sakes down... three weeks ago I was waiting for the right moment to grab a Shuttle 9.0. Two weeks ago I was set on a Streamliner. Now I find out about a ShuttleMax 9.0. I think I have new amp vertigo. :hmm:

Yes, NAV is like GAS but with a little more confusion, and a hint of motion sickness. Also, it is the first in a series of designer GAS maladies that are uniquely applicable to specific genres of gear. Want a new bass? That's NBV. New cab? That's NCV. And so on... :ninja:

OK, if Andy or Roger announce one more new product before the end of the year, I think my head is just going to explode!:help:

I feel like Robin Williams' character in the movie Moscow on the Hudson, a Soviet defector who finds himself so absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices we Amercians have compared to citizens of the pre-fall USSR Russia, that he literally breaks down while trying to figure out which brand of coffee to buy.

Even though I love my GBE1200, it is overkill for most of the gigs I am doing right now. So I know I want to buy either a Shuttle 9.0, a ShuttleMax 9.0, or a Streamliner 9.0, but which one? And where am I going to be able to try all of these to know? My local Guitar Factory does carry Genz stuff, but they tend to stock the smaller and cheaper lines because they sell easier.

And even though I love my Uber 410, I can't help but be really tempted to hear one (or maybe two) of those Uber 1288s.

OK, my head is going to explode! Back to work so I can make enough money to buy everything.:rollno:

Since you already have a 1200, I'm not sure you need to really try any of them other than the Streamliner. The Max 12 and Shuttle 9 both have a bit more bottom end than the 1200 with the EQ's all flat, but that's about it. The MAX will give you the FET and Tube channels just like your 1200 if that's what you want. The Shuttle 9.0 will sound pretty much just like the Tube channel on your 1200. The differences in tone between all these heads is very small IMHO, contrary to what others have reported.

The Streamliner is really the first head that promises to be almost wholly different from all the other Genz heads. Do you want that kind of tube gain stage?

This is what my ears tell me when I've compared all these heads. The Streamliner, as Hasbeen has stated a few times, is 'something different'. I'm again looking forward to giving that one a good go in a month or so.

Can't quite see why anyone at this point would choose the very large and heavy 1200 over the Max 12 if you were using two 4ohm cabs or the Max 9 if you were using one large 4ohm cab or two 8ohm cabs.

Boy do I hear you about the 1200, but simply unmatched performance! The only question now is get a completely new voice with the Streamliner, or get a similar but lightweight option with the Max 9. Or win a lottery and buy the whole damn bunch...

I just worked with Robin a few weeks ago. His most recent tour was quite successful and he's as funny as ever. Nice guy to work with as well.

After 2 days of reading, i think ive caught up!!

Are any existing 9 owners thinking about picking up a streamliner, then slaving either one depending on tone requirement/preferred front end? Ive got a vt bass infront of my 9 at the moment and really looking frward to the sl900! Ive wanted a backup/ rig of doom for a while and gonna give this whirl once out!

So is the uk release similar to us? Bass direct will allowing preorders new year i believe, just got to wait for that row boat to cross the pond i guess!
