Double Bass genz-benz shuttle 3.0-6.0-9.0 heads

I am not an upright player, but here's Ed Friedland's upright demo of the shuttle 6.2 combo.

A couple weeks ago, I went to a show where the bassist was playing through a shuttlemax 6.0. His upright sounded great both plucked and bowed, but again, my experience with upright is nil.

I am an electric only player and just got a Shuttle 9.0.

For my regular Classic Rock band, the Shuttle lacks bottom and has a persistent modern sound, even with the tone rolled completely off on my G&L L-2000E.

However, on my Praise gig, where I aim for an upright sound on a Precision Bass with TI Jazz flats, it sounded perfect with a 2x10 and 1x12.

If you are looking for a single channel amp, that works beautifully with Upright and Electric. I think the Shuttles are among the best amplifiers out there. Personally, after hearing Ed Friedland's 6.2 demo's, I latch onto one of those, in leu of the 6.0's. They have a new power management system, and different low frequency filtering that is more selectively focused.
Euphonic Audio also builds the Doubler, that's got provisions for mixing a mike with a pickup, a variable phase control, with a variable high pass filter.

Since you are almost exclusively using Double Bass, Acoustic Image makes very nice amps for that. Lots of DB specific features. I'd go with the Ten2, as I like the combo front firing 10 and downward firing ten. Makes more sense to me.

I bought my Shuttle 6.0 from a guy who gigged it with URB mainly. The reason he sold it was he said it sounded "sterile" with his URB. That opinion is second hand. I don't play URB live much at all and have not tested mine through the Shuttle.

The bassist in my acoustic quartet recently switched from his AI Contra to a Genz Streamliner 900 through an EA 210. The difference is like night and day. It's not exactly the Shuttle you were asking about, and I believe there may be some slight tonal differences between the Streamliner and Shuttle, but the volume, tone, and depth of sound blows away his AI in my opinion. This is not a slight to the AI, which is good for it's size, but he sounds like a bass player now. The weight difference between the new rig and his AI is negligible. Get the GB, you won't be sorry.
