Double Bass Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 8T

Hello,
Webster University owns a Shuttle 3.0 8T so when I have a rehearsal there I use the Genz Benz. Last evening we did a full on rehearsal for a concert with a sextet. I just walked in with my bass, Ehrlund pickup and pre amp, plugged in and instantly had the sound I wanted. Full, warm, great definition and loud. If Genz Benz would build a two channel version of this amp I would save my pennies and buy it.

I love mine... I wish they built a matching 1x8 or 2x8 to go with it.

I love the sound of the 8.

You're right it is, and I talked to Genz Benz about the Shenandoah when it first hit the market. It was their feeling that you would need an extension cabinet to use it with Double Bass.

If I ever went the mic route I would consider. The Shuttle is meeting all my needs for now.

I found out the flaw. The thing is so small that I can't fit my music stand in the amp case. Another great gig Saturday night. Rest of the group has full PA support and I just used my amp since it filled the room with no problems.

The Shuttle 3/8T is great--beautiful with an extension cab. If you're going both db & electric you may be outnumbered in a louder or noisier setting but typically--small to med room--it's loud & clear enough.
I'm a sucker for the tube preamp on some of the other models; I wish GB offered that on the 3.0.

Recently I bought a 8T cab an apart a shuttle 6.0, but I've been dissapointed. with not so high volume, the speaker makes a very distorted "brrr". I inspected the speaker but it seems ok (not ripped things at all), but I tested against my Gallien Krueger backline 110 (70 RMS Watts), and the GK is doubling the loudness with no distortion. Whre are the 170 RMS watts? it seems like 40 watts. May be it's because I'm using the 6.0 shuttle?

For outside gigs I add the 10T cabinet to the 8T (my aztec pyramid) playing with a plywood bass and Realist pick-up. Occasionally I use one or both cabinets with a Fender Jazz Deluxe. Regardless of the situation or the bass, the Shuttle has always delivered great tone, bass response, and power. If I ever need more than the 300 watts total that I currently have, I just get a bigger Shuttle (or go through the PA with the direct out).

I was very interested in purchasing one of the newer Shuttle 6.2 12T's until Fender closed down the manufacturing end of the company, now it's repair service only with a few pieces of NOS out there. It was a very good sounding portable amplifier.

For those replying I have a quick question. I have a 3.0 shuttle with the 10 inch speaker. At home things are fine, but the last two times I have had the amp out, it powers up, all the lights are on the amp, but there is no sound anywhere. It seems to work at home. Could there be a amperage requirement that both these venues would have not had? Has anyone else experienced this?

This happened to me too but it was my Realist pickup , not the amp. The connections went bad. It's probably fixable but I want something less permanent. (any suggestions?)
I have the smallest 3.0 . Ive ended up using it more as a keyboard amp then a bass amp. It also seems like it gets louder for the keys then it does for the bass.
Is that because I don't use a preamp ?

I just won an eBay auction for a used 3.0 8t combo, for only $300!

Super stoked, since my previous upright amp (GK MB150) got stolen out of the trunk of my car last week. Normally, I have to try everything before purchasing it, but after reading nothing but great things about this amp, I had to take the chance on a killer deal.

If shipping was only instantaneous...............

Yup. The 3.0-8T is a great amp for upright, and if you have an extension cab so much the better. It's a matter of taste but I think the 8" speaker actually avoids boominess you can get in larger speakers. Of course, for a given venue you may need more.

How do you like it with the crazy 8? I had the ext. cab but sold it, realize now that was a bad idea since this little gem is discontinued.
