Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 - Noise on Mute, Staticy

Hello! I have a Genz Benz Shuttle purchased new from an ebay seller in 2011. It's worked great until recently when I turn it on there is a lot of static that wasn't there before. Also, when I have the mute on, I can still hear static and I can hear the bass playing. Any suggestions? Maybe a short somewhere in the head? I experience this issue through the cab and through headphones. New guitar cords and power cords do not help.

Unfortunately I don't know if the ebay seller is an authorized GB dealer and I can't find my receipt. All I have for warranty is my ebay purchase history page :crying:

Give Jeff a call at the factory Monday morning, he will help you get this sorted out. Almost sure to be something really simple... possibly a bad tube, dirty effects return jack's internal switch, etc.

So what was the resolution... I've actually had something similar happen with my Shuttle 6.0-210T a few times... the last time the issue went away after I changed from the top neutrik connector to the bottom one.... but I haven't used it a whole lot since...

This COULD be a defective SpeakOn cable. I have seen some that were assembled with tinned leads which caused the connection to creep under the pressure of the binding screw. The wire became loose and the intermittent connection caused a staticy noise and distortion when played under load.

I wish some cable houses would read the application notes Neutrik supplies, and would understand the basic mechanics of cable assembly. IMO, this is a "junior high" mistake. Binding or pressure type wire connections should never be tinned unless the connector is specifically designed for it (maybe 0.1%).

Just got the amp back. They hard wired the volume jumper and cleaned am
Nd retensioned the tube socket and connector. Super fast and easy to deal with!

Well, back when I was in Jr Hi, no not really. :smug: But a couple years ago, I made two, 3ft speaker cables out of a 6ft GK speakon speaker cable to use with two regular cabs. I bought the new speakon end connectors. But did not remove the tinned wire section at one end. It kept sliding out from under the screw and would cause distort thru my 410 XB-2 cab. Once I removed the tinned portion the screw then made better contact is it crushed the bare wires and held them in place. It happens. :rolleyes: But I know better now. :cool:
