Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread Part II Shuttle 9.2 included

Received my 9.2 shuttle from The Bass Place last Friday.
Pristine packing and a factory sealed box. Unpacked it today and set it up and there's nothing but distortion coming out.
Have tried various gain/volume master settings and nothing changes except how loud my bass is distorted.
any ideas?

Maybe the preamp tube is bad? I just bought the same head from them last week and no problems with mine.
I thought I saw an answer for this earlier in the thread, but can't find it now....
Getting a loud whooshing "ocean"-like noise through my Shuttle 9.0 after it's on a for a few minutes. Continues whether or not I put the standby switch on or not. Only the Master Volume affects it.
I'm guessing a bad preamp tube, but any other suggestions?

Check you Effects send return jacks on the rear.. cycle a jack about a dozen times in each SEND and RETURN.. with the amp off. .see if that helps
Thanks, but that didn't do it. Tried all the other jacks, as well. Nada.
I guess a new tube is next?

I'm confused here. There is no standby switch on any of the shuttle amps. Do you mean the mute switch?
The mute function is before the tube, it is unlikely to have any effect on your problem.
With the master volume at 12:00 position, does the noise change with the input gain control? How about the channel volume control? If the channel volume changes the volume of the noise, it's almost certainly a bad tube. If not, there are some other possibilities that I can work through with you.

Well I've made my decision. I think the Shuttle 9.2 is an awesome amp, but the tone is not me. I have wanted so much to love this head. I bought the 9.0 last year & the 9.2 back in June. The truth is my main head is an Eden 405 and everything else I compare to it. I received this head new from The Bass Place on 10/10/13. I used it at rehearsal on that Saturday and intermittently since then. I have not posted it on the classifieds yet nor have I contacted The Bass Place. If anyone is ready to purchase just send me a PM. I paid $495 + $25 shipping to total $520. I plan on posting it for sale by Friday. All of the info in this thread and all of the related talkbass threads have been great. I don't know that I will ever be able to duplicate the sound & features of my main head. I am very disappointed to learn this is not the head for me. If anyone has a suggestion on a head that gives me similar features and tones of my Eden I am all ears. 
Yeah, the channel volume did change the noise, so I swapped out the tube and DEOX'd the socket.
Presto! Noise gone.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out but when you have had the tone you love, it's hard to beat... What about a glock ?
I have never had the opportunity to try one. I may need to take a road trip and try a Glock or other amps. I am running out of options. What made you inquire about that particular brand? I've read good things on here about them.
I'm a bit of a nerd here and read just about everything that gets posted, the first two amps I've bought in over 10 years were exactly what I was hoping for... I don't think it was luck and I never heard them in the flesh before buying, just hours of reading then watching every demo I can... And a little gamble, 2 for 2 though...By that premise I reckon your search needs to go super fidelity and tons of power, the glocks seem to fit or at least approach the profile of your past love, at least from what ive been reading/hearing. Maybe the GK mb fusion range is worth a look too ? It's more a gut feel though...

No that didn't sound arrogant. I had the MBFusion for a moment and ended up returning it for the TH500. I'm not giving up. I know I will find something that works for me...and it better be soon.
Just unboxed my 12.2 Shuttle max... As far as I am concerned this is an amazing amp at an amazing price... I got mine from Bass Place and it was on clearance.
Paired with my Baer ML112 it just sounds awesome and more importantly it's really versatile.
I can only say grab one while it's hot, available and on offer.
