Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread

my 9.0 arrived today and I'm officially now part of the club. Unfortunately I have no speaker cabs at home. I ran it through some headphones but that really doesn't tell me much... so tomorrow at church, I'll give it a try. I'm excited. I think I understand the gain staging and should be OK with that. I'll report more tomorrow.

I used the 9.0 in church today. The voicing is clearly different from the 3.0 I have with the lows being substantially bigger and deeper. I'm not sure that I like it as much with my Acme B2 as I did/do the 3.0. I think the cab is perhaps too dark for the deeper voicing. I'll need to live with it a few weeks to make that decision. Even with the 3.0 I cut the bass a tiny bit. I've been thinking about a new cab anyway so that may be a good direction anyway. The head does sound really good.

Just as we finished rehearsal, it started to crackle. I assumed it to be the tube. Pulled the top cover off and the tube was not completely seated in the socket. One pin was bent and was keeping it from going in with that pin just touching the contact. It is a wonder it was working at all. I carefully straightened the pin, seated the tube... and everything was good. Except I lost a screw. I have to admit that I would be perfectly happy with no tubes and the mosfet preamp like on the 3.0 (I don't do grit) but if you want the higher power it is either the tube or the max series... so I'll live with the tube.

A few moments ago I received the newsletter from Genzler with info on three new cabs... here they are and all are to be available in mid September

Just bought an AudioKinesis Hathor 1203 used locally to use with my Shuttle 9.0 and HOLY COW! I know that Jeff and the boys have moved on to greener pastures, but I wanted to give some love back for this great head. It's plenty loud at 8ohms with a single cab, but I'm saving up to get a second 1203 to add for larger gigs. Such a great sounding rig, very detailed and full, has nice character and works well with my pedalboard, and the head and cab are only 30lbs. I'm not sure if I'll EVER need another head, but if I do I'm going right to the man himself.

Cool. Yeah my Shuttle 9.0 is a "keeper". Their new stuff is great too but this one's a classic IMO, this and my Streamliner aren't going anywhere.
