Genz Benz Streamliner 900... blue interior light out....

Have the same problem with my Streamliner 600. But I live in Norway, and the amp was bought from England (no distributor in Norway). Is there a quick fix for this? Returning it would be costly :(

My STM-900 interior blue light has went out during the gig last night. I don't think it has effected the sound at all, but I was wondering how much it would cost to repair it. Unfortunately my 3 year warranty expired in January. This amp has been my only amp, and has seen many gigging and rehearsing hours.

I have an authorized repair guy locally, so I just want to see if it is a relatively easy repair, or if I should just live with it.

It's a very easy repair for a tech with the right tools/skills. PCB does not need to come out. Not so easy for a hack tech and not really a DIY repair either. PM me with your address and I will send you a set of LEDs for your tech to install.
 
I had Genz Benz send me new LEDs, but the charge for install was $100! My amp still works just fine without them. I was going to open the amp up and see if I could install myself, but the old adage. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

All I can say is wow. Freekin' good grief, wow. Clearly I'm either in the wrong business or the wrong part of the country!

Tell you what, if you pay for shipping both ways, I will install them for free. It's a <5 minute job if you know what you are doing. Apparently, it's a several hour job if you don't ;)
 
The blue lights went out of my Streamliner 900 for about 2 months, then out of the blue they have started working again for the past 10 gigs. I guess it thought it was a Fender and quit working then when it realized it was still a GB a light came back on. :D

Does it require an iron, or is it simple molex plugs? As long as soldering isn't involved, I can do it myself.
 
They are solder in, higher than standard current devices (~30mA iirc).

Different color LEDs have different forward voltages do this MUST be factored into the replacement. The LEDs are purely cosmetic.

There were some defective LEDs, it's not solder joints but something with the lead bond to the die. The blue (and white) LEDs use silicon carbide chemistry which is very different from traditional red, green, yellow and amber.
