No I liked it but just...........well, liked it. I need more PUNCH. I think they are great sounding cabs. Sounded great with my Fusion, sounding great with the SL.

Just wanted to try this with an Uber 410 based on some feedback I got from many in the know. It's only money right?;)

Regarding the "sweet spot", is that where the amp is at its quietest (not playing) or the place where it sounds best?

I'm just a fireman so you may have to break it down for me.

Per the above, there really is no such thing as a sweet spot, since the impact of the gain control will be very different depending on the signal coming into it.

However, if you run the gain VERY low (way below the level where it still sounds clean) and then really crank the volume control (the second knob), you will get more noise coming out of the amp.
I think the manual states it pretty well... start at noon/noon on the volume and gain. If you want more dirt, turn the gain up and use the volume to keep the amp at approximately the same loudness. If the preamp is not clean enough at noon on the gain (e.g., if you have a very hot input signal), only then should you turn the gain down a touch and then bring the volume up a bit.

Given my very hot output Nordy, combined with my 'average touch' technique, I would think that 'noon/noon' setting would work for quite a few as at least a starting point to hear the amp's clean tone.

Of course, if you push in that gain button, then the formula/ratio changes a bit.

I'll be getting my Neo 115 soon. PUNCH comes through great with my EBMM, Eden Nav & Epifani 310s. We'll see if the SL & Neo115 holds up. But I don't like the GK Neo 10s, something lacking

Sacrifice weight for tone for EVERY gig & you'll be happy. My neos are for practice.

BY THE WAY: I ordered the 40lb Neo 115 & UPS says the package is 78 lbs.... This sound right to you guys?

Figured I would post a pic of my rig with the new SL600 sitting atop in all its glory. Its a phone pic so a little blurry.

Per my PM, checked it, no issue (edit: sent you another PM... I see what you are doing to get that noise... easy to fix and a bit of 'user error' in setting the ratio of the gain and volume.... took me a while to get a feel for it also).

And again, the idea that there is a 'sweet spot' on the input gain and volume will send to totally down the wrong path (although I agree I would not see much need to turn the volume up past about 1 o'clock even with a clean tone goal on the gain setting). That is TOTALLY dependent of the strength of your input signal, how aggressive your technique is, and how much overdrive you want (i.e., the ratio of tube gain to volume). The amp will get 'noisier' if you set the gain super low and the volume super high, but that is user error for the most part. That would be similar to turning the volume down a lot on our bass and turning the gain and master up on a typical amp.

The best rule of thumb to get started is to set the gain and volume at noon, and then as you turn the gain up or down, do the opposite to the volume.

The noise level is on the quiest side with this amp... a bit of the typical hiss coming out of the tweeter as you reall crank the amp, but nothing that could be heard either at low volumes with a piano trio, or moderate or high volumes with a band.

To reiterate what I am getting at to make sure I don't have a bad tube is does the noise level increase as the input volume is increased. Set the gain at say 10 o'clock and the master at ten oclock and don't touch them. Mute the amp and the only variable is the input volume. Does the noise level coming through the speaker increase as the input volume is increased. Mine does, and like I was saying past 9ish on the input volume is louder than my M6 or MB heads at idle (no instrument). Again when the amp is muted and taking out the variable of the master volume the noise level coming through speaker is increased with the turn of the input volume but is not affected by the gain knob or gain button. Is this typical or is it possible that the tube controled by the input volume needs replaced?

It of course increases a touch as you crank the output level of the preamp, but again to quite low levels. At the 'noon and noon level' on mine, with the master cranked, the noise is there, but of course, the amp would be causing your ears to bleed at that level. So, noise is a zero issue on mine... just a slight hiss like on most amps coming out of the tweeter. If you are hearing more noise than the Mesa or GK heads, which are IMO among the noisiest out there, it seems you might have a problem

Well, I think the SL900 and Berg AE212 make a good combo.

I own just about every make of modern, pro amp out there. We strive to be quiet, quiet, studio quiet....fans and all.

You might want to call the shop and walk through it. 480.941.0705

Live stage open mic stuff never sounds any good. I had my video camera on top of my amp last week on a large gig looking out to the house.. all that really came out was on the video was my mix.. which is LOUD drums(kick ,snare, hat) live bass, my vox, very little keys. and bleed from other monitors..
Live with me standing there it is like a loud livingroom stereo...I dont like guitar in monitors, I can already hear them across the stage anyway... They all play way on top of the beat.. Except a guy like Steve lukather. .he lays it down in time... but recorded my video sounded like crap on the small mic of the camera. So the answer is no.. Also the video camera was vibrating with kick hits..... makes me sea sick...

I would love to hear that. Any recordings?

Can someone try this and letting me know what they think. Plug cab in, mute amp, turn amp on, no instrument and check the noise floor increases with the input volume. Several of you are saying the sweet spot is with the input volume around 1 oclock, but with that setting and on idle it is pretty loud. Using berg cab with tweeter at 11ish. I am used to high gain amps that are loud at idle like the M6 and GK MB series.

No noise whatsoever, even with the input volume "pegged".

Nice setup!

I couldn't get a really good shot (and I don't know how you guys get the photos to 'supersize'), but here's a longer shot that shows a couple of the other basses in our arsenal (my wife also plays bass) ... and a close-up of my pedalboard:
