Genz-Benz Streamliner Part 5

Looking forward to those graphs!

Also, just bought an HS210 that'll be coming soon to pair with my 900. Just want to try it out with my 900 to satisfy my curiosity. Gonna put it up against my TCE RS210, which is a great little 210. I've heard the HS210 is a bit more refined in comparison. I like the idea of that. We'll see! All I know is that I love Bergs and I'm still lovin' my 900. :smug:

I find that i like the extended lows of the Streamliner quite alot.. Works well in many situations and many different cabs..

Some people here are commenting on how much bass this amp has if the bass knob is set to flat...as if to say it was too much..
But if you go back and look at older Shuttle amp comments , just a few short years ago. They were the same folks commenting that the shuttle did not have enough lows.. Hey, that is what the Knobs are for..
So i guess you can never win.. I think some people just like to complain all the time..

Its as close as I'll get to a comparison since my former Shuttle 9.0 lands at its new home in AL today and my new Streamliner 900 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

I read the comments to be more observations not complaints.

I'm just trying to figure out a place to drop the images so that I can link them in the post. All the "free" options I have compress them so much that they're not easy to read, and I don't think my employer would be too happy if dropped them in any of our web servers. :D

I agree that those complaints existed with the 3.0 and 6.0, such that they didn't really compete with other micro offerings by the time the bass was boosted to compensate, at least IMHO and many others. (For example, boosting the lows on the 6.0 would never get it to have the depth and authority at full volume of the LMII set flat...tonal preferences of one over the other aside.) The 9.0 fixed all that with the extra power and deeper voicing. The Streamliner, to my ear, goes a bit too far in the other direction when the knobs are flat for my tastes. Too much bass to be usable for me, but it can be cut a great deal so that it's relatively flat. The graphs I have (while not scientific or 100% accurate perhaps) should help shed some light on this...if I could only get them uploaded somewhere to share them! :mad:

Edit: I'll state this disclaimer again when I share the graphs, but one should always use their ears first to gauge a head. I'm simply wanting to put a visual aid out to show what some of us are hearing.

My thoughts exactly. I couldn't EQ my way to the sound I wanted with the Shuttle 6.0, but I can with the Streamliner.

+1...I had the same issue when I tried the 6.0. It seemed like when the bass was boosted to compensate for the low end roll off all the power was sucked out of the amp. I never tried the 9.0, but I tried the ShuttleMax 6 and 12 and that issue was completely gone - those amps sound PERFECT to my ear.

I'm censuring myself because there was a ground loop in these graphs, causing the readings to be off, particularly in the lows. I'll start a new thread and repost my new graphs once I'm comfortable with them.
