If you are not familiar with opening up an amp and need it today, and you dont have a backup.... Maybe Carefully wrap the Cable without removing the jack that is stuck in the amp while you transport it to the gig.. be careful with it... And only mess with it after the gig when you have time without rushing and so you dont screw something up. Worry about it later. Get the gig done first

Ok I can make it through the gig: VT Bass as my preamp into the FX return...it's not quite the same but it'll do for now. Now to find a qualified tech in my neck of the woods to change the jack (that part's got me more nervous that anything else).

My initial post must not have been clear...the above picture is what's left of the cable...trying to shove that back into the jack and hoping it not only makes but also retains contact with the broken tip for any gig (much less a paid gig as is this one) is not gonna happen.

Based on Agedhorse's advice and my observations (the tip is jammed behind a piece of the jack itself), it's not coming out without damaging the jack. Gonna send it off for repair when I finish this last round of gigs for the year.

Sure. Unplug them amp first. Wait 5 minutes for any residual charge in the caps to dissipate. (Not really necessary, but what the heck, why not?) Unscrew the top cover off the amp. BTW, I have several Armour Gold cables. In all of them the right angle connector crapped out on me in the most spectacular way. I will never buy them again. I am now using Tsunami cables. They are the most bullet-proof cables I have ever come across. I am very happy with them.

Thanks for all the responses. Just came back from the gig, went off without a hitch. :bassist:

I had opened the amp up to look for myself hours ago, but thanks for the pic...seriously, unless you have some specific tools for this I can't see getting around damaging the jack...my soldering skills are basic at best so definitely not tackling that on my only amp. Off to the pros it goes...Sad part is (besides the fact that I'll probably have to mail this amp overseas on my dime) I'm about to receive 2 late 50's RCA 7025 Long grey plates in NOS condition that I was eager to try out :crying:

Looking at that pic you could try laying the amp on its front face. Gently pry the two rear contacts. shake gently to allow the lost piece to fall forward. Repeat with the center and front contacts (releasing the rear contact will trap the bit from falling back to the rear). Worth a shot before shipping it off? Small hook picks or 90-degree picks should fit in there. just don't pry hard or you will deform the spring contacts.

UPDATE: I GOT IT OUT WITHOUT DAMAGE!

Sorry was a little hyper when everything worked well afterwards...Thank God for my wife lol

After studying how the plates move when a cable is inserted, our plan was to use crochet hooks (which she has in abundance) to gently pry them back, insert the broken cable with a small drop of krazy glue on the inside tip til it hit the stuck bit...let it set and then pry the connectors back again while pulling it out slowly...came out without any struggle.

Just played for 5 minutes and occasionally twisted the cable while holding a note, no issues :hyper:

I'll keep an eye on it this week and see if it's good...but I didn't pry it back anymore than it normally travels, so I think we're ok. Thanks for the help everyone!
