GenzBenz Streamliner Pt 8...

If the Streamliner had a 4 band with semi parametrics like the Shuttlemax control do you think that would take away or add to this amp?

Imagine a Shuttlemax 12.2 with the Streamliner as the tube section using that EQ? Ridiculous

If they could do it and put it in a box the same size as the Streamliner I'd get it. The FET Channel would be suited for Doubling and the Tube Channel would well uh you know.........Gooey.

It would be so insane. I would just LOVE to have a 4 band EQ with semi parametrics on the Streamliner PLUS have the FET shuttlemax. Imagine blending them? Just wow

Not sure if its possible... as it sits right now the Shuttlemax tube section is underwhelming vs the Streamliner. I do miss a hi-fi sound though.

If GB does something like this I'm in... if not my hi-fi amp will most likely be a GK MB500

The Streamliner is a keeper with the GK cabs where I get a lot of cut when I need it

Similar requirements here ... I use the Streamliner for my Fender Aerodyne P/J and an E.A. Micro for my Rob Allen Deep 4 acoustic bass guitar. The RA sounds OK with the Streamliner, but its upright like tone really shines with the EA Micro. The Micro also serves as a backup amp. Putting 2-in-1 with separate power sources would eliminate the need for a backup, but that would probably blow the smaller form factor. Unless we're surprised again by Genz.

GK MB Fusion has a 1 rack 3 tube amp so I'm hoping GB could pull off the combo. Having 2 amps voiced so differently in 1 package would be the holy grail period.

For now though, its Streamliner & pick your hi-fi amp separately.

Haven't stopped in this thread in a while, just thought I would stop by and say I'm still loving this head. Had it for a good long while now.

No issues at all. Have it dialed exactly how I like it. Bass at 11, Mid at 12, and Treble at 3. Can't recall where my gain is at right now but whatever I have it dialed in for me.

Love this thing. Could have gotten the 900 for some more headroom but its still super loud for pushing a 4x10 and 1x15. Can make my 2 guitar players disappear if I want to. ;) Cheers guys!

One of the things that we hear over and over is that many players appeciate the simplicity of the Streamliner.

Funny you should mention that as I was tooling with my Eden Navigator and its 1 million knobs... I kept thinking theres no way I touch all these EQ options during a gig & not totally mess up my tone. At my last gig with the Streamliner I needed a tone change to fit the room & it handled it perfectly.

The shuttlemax however while still a complex EQ was manageable & very enjoyable. Sometimes cabs have an upper mid boost that is hard to EQ out. The Shuttlemax EQ was able to get me around those issues where with the Streamliner you kinda have to live with em.

To me, simplicity is the opposite of versatile. This amp is what it is & I love it... but I sure would LOVE an amp that had an FET channel, a Streamliner tube section & those EQ options. As of now to get really hi-fi FET tones we obviously need another amp

That versatility would be ridiculous, unprecedented even.

My personal feeling is that they are really 2 different tools for different jobs. Versitile doesn't bother me at all but it can be a turn-off to quite a few folks.

Understood, but why do only the FET amps get the knobs while the tube amp doesnt? Is it inherently harder or does it just not work to have a tube amp with that kind of EQ?

And I certainly love both the Shuttlemax & the Streamliner... both in 1 package? The holy grail, period.

EDIT
For now... I need both the Streamliner & another FET amp. I'll wait for the Shuttlemax 6.2 to see if it gets the extra EQ of the 9.2 in a smaller package

No complaints about that. The Streamliner is no doubt a great amp. None better as far as I'm concerned.

Though Ive had the occasion to get jiggy with the Mid Control. When you get the three way mid scoop going it can move to compensating for it. I recently played my Streamliner with my HT123ER cab using my Stingray Classic. All of these lean toward the mid scoop and the combination of the three can get a little freaky. I had to dime the mid at 600hz to compensate from the triple whammy mid scoop thing but this got the job done gloriously.

What’s ideal to me is a streamliner and a FET laid out like a streamliner with both channels having hi and lo mids. The mids can have a few well-chosen frequencies. And on my wish list is some type of contour knob. Yes, I want it all. I want only one amp.

The eq circuitry is VERY different between the two. The Streamliner is a fully tube based eq circuit.

I personally would love a Streamliner Max 9.2 with the ability of having 2 channels/blending and having the footswitch the adjust all of this on the fly.

I understand how many people love the simplicity of the SL series for EQing, but the ability of having 2 channels with the Shuttlemax series is even more useful for me while playing a set.

I agree but it looks not possible for the time being which was what I needed to hear.

Looks like I need to bite the bullet & grab a 9.2 shuttlemax which is by far my favorite FET amp

Gotta give it to Genz for having such quality diverse products. Expecting them to put it all in 1 package is most likely an insane dream!

KJ,

Just a couple things. 1) I think the M6 was used as at least one of the comparision or test amps. Not saying they were used it all for voicing (I know that is obvious) but just rather as a amp that was hammer and doing well on the market. 2) glad you and I didn't give up on them after our first or in your case second experience. GB customer service rules!:bassist:

just to clarify, the M9 was used and it was only used for power comparison, not as a sonic goal. The M9 is a great sounding amp...but, it is very "aggressive". ...at least, to my ears and we were going for something different with the Streamliner. All the amps we used for sonic comparison and goals were tube amps.

The Streamliner was an amp that I pushed hard to have built. I wanted to have the most common complaints about GB amps addressed. Those complaints were:
* too many lights on the status bar....is my amp going to blow up?
* too many knobs. We heard this one a LOT.
* too "hi-fi" sounding.

IMHO, I don't see "having a streamlined design" and being "versatile" as mutually exclusive design goals. One of the most versatile amps I have is an SA200.
