@Loring And is that blue or gold channel?
thanks for sharing those settings.
Thanks Loring. I'm still trying to dial in my Sadowsky PJ. I haven't quite hit the spot I'm looking for. I picked up a Lakland duck dunn 44-64, put on tapes, and loving the results. Can't quite nail down my PJ.
Maybe @Holdsg could help? We have sister deluxe VW Sadowsky basses. I typically have been playing it passive. We are doing some 60's style soul and motown music.
@SadowskySteve Are you asking about settings on the amp, or on the bass?
@SadowskySteve Are you asking about settings on the amp, or on the bass?
On a PJ - I start with the P pickup and dial in the J till it’s growly enough...
On the amp - in actually use a looper and put some boost on till I find the frequency I want boosted then dial it back till I like the overall tone.
For “in the mix” prelim I do the same thing but with recorded music going through as well and tweak it slightly when I’m with the band.
Every room is different so you may have to tweak slightly - mostly it’s been really close in most rooms.
If only there was a “mask your mistakes” setting!
Jeff could corner the whole market if he came up with that lol!
That’s something else to consider - which cab(s) are we driving.Well, these are my settings, untouched, from recent Led Zeppelin Band prax. I was using a passive G&L L1000 Bass thru my 410-3. Blue contour for all songs except gold contour for immigrant song.

I have noticed this also - two are not only louder (which you can turn back down) but just sound so much better! Thanks Gary and Loring.
I have also gone back to two cabs at ever event the coupling sounds amazing at lower volumes.
Interested to hear your thoughts on this one.I’m just going to leave this here. More to come!
