I'm interested in the new Genzler heads but have no opportunity to try one out. Can someone give me a sense of the tones of this head. If you've got experience to compare it with the sound of the Streamliner, even better.

I own both the Magellan 800 and the Streamliner 600. My favorite setting on the Streamliner is Gain and Volume at 2:00, Bass at about 9:00 depending on bass and cabs, Mids at about 3:00 and mid selector on 220, Treble at 1:00 and Master to taste.

The Magellan set flat with Contour set Blue and Drive set at about 9:00 sounds very similar. However the Streamliner will never hit as hard as the Magellan and the Magellan will never come off as bloomy as the Streamliner. I love how the Streamliner reminds me of a tube amp, but the hit the Magellan provides can be pretty sweet. Hope this helps in your decision.

Had a productive rehearsal with just me and my drummer last night. Took my “MG” 800/BA210/3 SLT and it was just perfect. Gearing up for a busy schedule starting in April. “Circus life under the Big Top world”

Yes, the woofer does extend full range without top end roll off. This allows those users that might want less tweeter, to still have top end coverage from the woofer.

I’ve owned the Shuttle 6, shuttle max 9.2, Streamliner 900 and now the Magellan 800. The Magellan is my favorite as I feel it fits perfectly between the Shuttlemax and the Streamliner. It’s warm and girthy but also tight and crisp. The difference I found is that the Magellan is much more versatile. There are a ton of usable tons in the Magellan, the streamliner i fought with. The liner mids were soft compared to the punch of the Magellan. AS mentioned already it certainly won’t have the book of the streamliner though. The Magellan has really nice left to the notes.

I had both heads as well. The Streamliner sounded somewhat vailed by comparison. The lows a little too bloated. Kind of a one trick pony. Very smooth.
The MG 800 is as smooth but better definition. The EQ has more flexibility as well. I can fatten up my D and G string by adjusting the mids.
Could never do that with the Streamliner. The MG 800 brings out the mids on my P bass in a way the Streamliner never could as well. Really nice.
It can do dark without sounding muddy. It can sound bright and retain clarity without sounding hard or brittle. Individual notes have more heft as well. Just a great flexible head.
IMHO.

I would never need more than what the MG350 give me - and I'm only using 1 cab (12T-V) and 175 watts. I have yet to put my BA10-2 on top of the 12T-V and see what it's like, but 1 cab has been plenty for my "background" jazz and singer songwriter type gigs. Not sure the OCD part of me would like a BA stacked on an MG.

The likes of Eden, SWR, MarkBass and Gallien Kruger (GK), they all have this horn/megaphone like exaggerated highs thing. Making the cabs sound as if the woofers do their thing and the tweeter does its thing, not as one smooth system of sound.
Many, myself included always turn them to almost off to make them blend decent.

The Genzler's tweeter is adjustable from the back as does most all that I mention, with the Magellan the tweeter with the knob straight up just gives you more of the highs that the woofer can no longer produce. You want less or no extra highs? Turn it down and the woofer's top end is all you get. If you want more you can turn it higher and then it is just more of the natural highs a bit louder. Still the highs sound like they are coming from one source, not the LOOK AT ME, I HAVE A TWEETER horn/megaphone sound I feel you get from others.

Sound is hard to describe. :unsure:
