New bass array 15 arrived yesterday. Lighter than I anticipated, and I love the dual bar handles. Only had 30 min or so of low volume testing and comparisons with my quilter bb800 and Bassdock12. Excellent clarity, especially on chordal work. Deep, yet tight bottom. The quilter BD12 seemed a little warmer with a bump in the low mids, while the Genzler seemed to be thicker on the upper strings. I definitely prefer the top end of the array vs the tweeter on the quilter. I look forward to putting some more time on it. Quilters will likely go up for sale to help fund the second 15.
agree on the "lighter than anticipated". I can't believe how light the 15-3 is.
Question for Jeff and the club, if I were to get an MG800 (the gears in my head started spinning when reading about the 15-3), would it be ok to connect it to my 10-2? I don't want to overpower it and damage it. At this time I don't play loud and only accompany electric/acoustic guitars and cajon (and not currently of course!).
Well, last night was my first time being back at my church gig since March 8th. We recorded the music to be used in this coming Sunday service. Everyone maintained acceptable social distances and those who could kept their mask on. I have not heard the mix yet, but I was, what seems like the first time, able to hear how those Avatar speakers DO NOT disperse the sound evenly (DUH!). My signal splits at my pedal board to DI to FOH and to the MG800, which feeds the Avatar stack 210+212 on stage, which sounded very muddy and bass heavy. Would love to have had my BA410-3 at that recording to see how much better the sound on stage would have been. Looking back, now I see why I needed to use IEM for clarity.

Others will be along shorty to chime in, but my response is you should be fine in your normal band settings, since you won't need much output. But if you ever push them too hard you would hear it before you damaged anything.
are you asking about running your MG800 thru a single 8-ohm cab? no problem, I do that all the time.
Yes and I figured it was ok. I just remember reading not to overpower a cab and wanted to make sure that the MG800 power at 8 ohms is not too much. I'm overly cautious at times. Thanks for the confirmation!

The BA10-2 is 250 watts @ 8ohms. The Magellan 800 is 400 watts @ 8ohms.
You should be ok without pushing it! The BA15-3 SLT added to that would be wonderful!

Hush. All this 15 talk. I love my 350/tall 12 combo. It’s awesome and a easy one hand grab.
I still have my BA10-2 and could pair it with a BA15-3 Slant for what I can only assume would be a killer rig. Almost like the biamped rigs of the days of old with the 15 supplying the bass rumble and the 10 taking care of mids and highs with the array. But alas, that’s more than 1 trip. But the sound would probably be amazing.
Of course, I never thought I’d have a $460 tube compressor (Effectrode Tube Leveling Amp pedal) either but now that I do I won’t play without it. It’s odd, as I get older I seem to be more will to pay more/carry more for the sake of better sound after years of trying to minimize.

Someone should photoshop a BA15-3 Slant and a BA10-2 Just for fun.
I thought about that 10-2 to add to my combo but started thinking that if I were to get another piece of equipment it would be an amp. Things have been on hold for a while even before the pandemic, and then I clicked on the 15-3 demo this morning.

I definitely don't need more than what I've got, the combo and a Schroeder 12 (which sounds fantastic with my MG350 BTW). Super grateful to have them!
But yeah, GAS at times (though I'm much much slower to pull the trigger nowadays)!

@FeltTipPen , just to add my 2 cents, yes you'd be fine running the MG-800 with the BA10-2 ----within reason. If you playing a 4 string bass you probably have a little more leeway to crank it a little but just be reasonable. Thank you for using our gear!!!
