What I do - as mentioned earlier by some is adjust gain till the red is barely coming on - then back it off a bit since live I play with a bit more gusto…Ok this seems to be more in line of what I was going for, and what I've been actually doing, I do have active bass but it's not that hot, so I can run the pad off and gain at 75% and barely tickle the clipping led sometimes. That just forces me to run the master volume really low.
Then on the drive channel I crank the gain till I get the amount of distortion I’m looking for. I then dial back the volume so that it’s just as loud as the clean channel so swapping back and forth doesn’t cause huge volume inconsistency.
then the master is your feel good knob - crank it till you feel good or your bandmates complain - whichever comes first! Lol
I honestly hardly ever need to above quarter master volume when using the 2 Ba12-3’s
