Took my mg350-112v combo to a first band-practice setting. I had fears it wouldn’t be loud enough or have enough oomph today.

I was proved wrong! I had gain at 9 o clock and master only at 11 o clock, and it was plenty loud and had plenty of punch. What a great amp!!!

Good evening! I currently use the Mag 800 with the new NuClassic 2x10T on the NuClassic 1x12. The 2x10 is significantly louder than the 12 which is to be expected but I noticed the 1x12 is only 96 db w1w in and so it's just not as loud in general. So I stack the 12 on top of the 2X10 and it's perfect. Some people flip out at the notion of a larger cone above the smaller one's but the smoother 12 (lower in volume) actually sound better "to Me" up top the 2x10T. Anyone else here tried that? Or am I just the weirdo? Cheers ya'll !

There is an old saying, "If it sounds good it is good" I would think that applies here. Setting a single speaker on top of the multiple speaker cab may be more common than you think. Besides it's your gear do what you like. You don't need anyone's approval.

And yes, your neighbors say you are definitely a weirdo, but that's a different subject.

Back in this club as of yesterday - picked up a used Magellan 800 from Guitar Center.

I had one briefly a few years back that I had to flip when some expenses popped up - but I've been demoing a lot of Class D options lately and felt like I should give the Magellan another look.

This particular Magellan looks like it's had some amateur tinkering - the top was installed backward, and 4 screws were missing.
I reinstalled the top correctly and replaced the missing screws, but I'm concerned about why the top had been removed and reinstalled, so I'll run the amp every day and keep an ear out for anything that doesn't sound right.

For now, the internals look good, I'm not seeing any evidence of modification or catastrophic failure, and the amp sounds like exactly what I've been looking for; tons of punch and clarity, but not as bright as my GK Legacy.
(The Legacy is a killer amp, but I've had to accept it's just too bright to play nicely with my Dingwall.)

If I sell my Legacy quickly enough, there's a local seller with a clean Magellan - and I'll return this weathered one to Guitar Center.

But the Magellan is the model of amp that I'm going forward with.

Yup! I've stacked my LDS "nEarful" 15+6 on top of my LDS 212 because I prefer the tonality of the cone mid up near my ear better than the horn. Makes for a REALLY TALL stack though; not practical unless I'm on a very solid stage.

In your case, your cabs are both 8 ohms and will divide the power evenly - but the 210 has a 500 watt rating and the 112 has a 300 watt rating.
So it's good to keep the 12 closer to ear level so that you might hear speaker complaints before they become speaker damage.

That is a great stage layout. Maybe you can "open-up" that rig a little more.

I agree, about 1/4 of the amps returned to me in general have had somebody messing around who shouldn't have been inside there. It usually costs more to repair also because we have to look over everything to be sure there's no hidden damage (which we do find often enough).

Most folks would be better off leaving the screws alone, their amps don't (or want) need their help!
