Genzler Amplification Club

New amp and cab(s) day.
Joining club with BA 2x10 and 1x15 + Kinetix.

Immediately made me realize how bad of a bass player I am. I didn’t even know I have most basses with fret buzz. Couldn’t hear it before. How I’ll have to work on my touch on both hands even more.

With everything including master volume at noon I can probably reduce whole apartment to dust if I dig in low B on L25K.

Great looking stuff! Just wait until you get it out on a gig….that’s when things go to a whole new level!!

Well, if @Joeykun can post pics of Genzler and Lakland gear then dammit, so can I... :roflmao:

What a great mix of gear this is...

Is that a Berg HG410 under your Magellan?

I ran my MG-350 through an HG310 yesterday. Excellent pairing, especially using the blue contour.

Now, comping the HG310 and BA12-3 SLT is tough. The Bass Array is just so good!
HG of course has tighter lows (sealed). In casual testing, phasey and octave effects sound somehow more organic through the HG, while delays and reverbs play better through the BA.

HG410X. Three forward, one rear facing.

I went from Eden>Genz-Benz>Mesa Subway as my main amps. I tried others along the way including the Magellan 350 and 800. I liked the Magellan amps just fine but stayed with the Subway amps because they worked well for me and they still do.

Then....a Kinetix 800 came up for a good price in the TB classifieds and I bought it. Boy, I am so glad I did! This thing really works for me. It is very muscular and musical. I have the EQ controls centered except for a small treble cut and the tone is really to die for and it feels like driving a car with tons of reserve power. Massive lows and clean, clear and sweet highs.

I highly recommend the Kinetix. It has loads of that "something" I wanted in a bass head.

My congratulations to Jeff on this design. You really knocked it out of the park with the Kinetix 800.

Are you using the Kinetix 800 with your Subway 15's ?

: )

Yes. gig last night was fairly loud and outside but I used just one SW115 with the Kinetix and it was plenty.View attachment 7338005
115 was most often perfect for me, used a single 15" Marshall Silver Jubilee cabinet for years, and regret selling it.

I've kept thinking about the Kinetic since it was released, but so far have only planned/done up a Genzler pedal board (which turned out better than I had even hoped for, and wondering if a "Kinetic Pre" pedal is in the works, I hope so!

I really like your Genzler pedal board. Correctly setup and perfect in front of a Kinetix. I would want to add a switching pedal to get the pure tones of bass straight into the input of the Kinetix and the Magellan into the power-amp input.

As much as I also wish for a Kinetix pre, I don't think that is a very pedal friendly design with 3 tubes running at 300V...
But hey, one can wish ;)

The only bass pedals I have are the re/Q, Magellan pre, Mesa Subway and the Mesa Subway+. I use them only to fix problems with tone or front of house and have had nothing that needed fixing on the Kinetix tone. I have yet to use it with a house system.

Many players use pedals to great effect but I have never been good at using them. Too old and set in my ways, I guess.

If I used an amp more often, as much as I love my MG350/112T-V Combo, I'd be tempted to get a Kinetix and then if needed an re/Q to run in front of it. Kind of like a "2nd channel" for a 2nd bass maybe. I don't need/use a lot of drive or distortion. I have debated the Magellan Pre for my IEM rig. Love my Genzler stuff but my gigs call for DI/IEM/Silent Stage these days. :(

Quick question, can’t seem to find a definitive answer: is the aux in on the Magellan 350 and 800 added to the headphone out only or to the general output, thus playing through a cab or headphone?
Thanks 😎
@Flint222 --- about your question, the AUX in signal comes in at the Master Vol control in the signal chain, so that signal goes to the speaker and headphones but NOT the DI. I hope this is helpful.
