How did you like it? I've been playing the Magellan 800 with the NC-212t for the last couple of months and I'm loving it.

That has to sound good. "Tube" amp and "old school" 212 cab...if I used a rig that would probably be it.
Loved it! For me, the only thing that would have made it better would have been my p bass
. We did have good FOH and monitoring support this time around, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it all holds up carrying the room solo at our next gig.Speaking of carrying, boy do I love the form factor and weight! Even though it's just 10-ish pounds lighter than my previous BA410-3 (which sounded monstrous but was more than I ever needed), my back and hands appreciate the extra little ease in load in/out, especially through narrow doorways.
I couldn't ask for anything more from the Kinetix. For me personally, I love having the 3-way Lean-Fat-Thick switch vs the Curve/Shape controls on the Magellan. I like rolling with the Thick position most of the time for the huge bottom end and cut Bass to taste, but the other positions are super useful for taming boomy stages and suiting different rooms. The set EQ points also suit me perfectly vs the parametric mid on the MG, as well. I can't get enough of the old school character and big, warm low end of the Kinetix, but that's just me! The Magellan heads are certainly their own kind of great.

@TechsMechs --- Thank you for the post about your experience with this rig. Funny, your comments about the Kinetix 800 and the 3-position switch is exactly what I was discussing with another player earlier this morning. Even though this appears to be a simple switch, it offers so much for the tonal foundation of the amp and its "kinetic" interation with the players technique. This is a feature we worked on a long time in order to make it simple to use, yet complex in its performance and very musical in the response. Glad you're also finding the NU CLASSIC 212T is a great match with the amp. Even with ceramic 12" drivers, it is in the class with light weight cabinet options.

I love that switch, it's brilliant!
I love my Kinetix, I was one of the very first to get it from when it first came out. I don't keep bass heads very long if they don't keep putting a smile on my face after the honeymoon period is over with, so the fact that I still own it says something. I've parted with quite a few bass heads over the last few 9 years and now have just 3 remaining that have stood the test of time, with an Aguilar TH-350 and Genzler MG-350 still remaining among the Kinetix. However, there are a few things I would have liked to have seen different on the Kinetix if I can nitpick for a moment, but I'm sure Jeff has already commented somewhere along these forums why he made the decisions he did. I may be in the minority but I would have preferred a variable high pass filter knob instead of the 3 way switch, much more flexibility. I find Thick too boomy and Lean too thin, so I just leave it on fat which is nearly perfect for me, but a high pass filter knob would have allowed me to tweak. Next, I would have liked a light to indicate when the high boost switch was activated. There have been multiple times when it was on high and I tried to push it up thinking it was on low, too much pressure and it could possibly snap off. With a light indicator, a potential broken switch could be completely avoided. I would also have liked to see a clipping light and a Bright switch as on some of the Mesa amps. Lastly, a clear window to see the 3 magical tubes would have been just way too cool 
. Like I said, I'm nitpicking and I do love the amp, otherwise it wouldn't have passed the the test of time and still be in my possession. Also and very importantly, it has Jeff backing it up if there were ever a question or problem.

@ROY PENNON That’s a SWEET rig!! And man.. Im quite impressed with that absolutely gorgeous Singlecut (A custom Warrior Isabella 5..??).
Question - are Magellan's and Kinetix' power sections identical, or similar? I'm thinking of acquiring Kinetix as well as a Magellan Pre, so that I could build a rig with a loop selector to switch between the cleaner Magellan Pre and the warmer Kinetix preamp section, all powered by the Kinetix power amp in. Idea is to get a more compact (and affordable) alternative to getting 2 amp heads.

@Val_K ---Thank you for considering our gear. Yes the power sections of both amps are the same. And your plan to use the MG-PRE-PEDAL with the Kinetix 800 sounds like a great plan. If you go forward, let us know how it works out.
We all have different sonic goals, however, you may find that the Kinetix by itself will give you everything you need. I am astonished by my Kinetix. It is a wonderful amp.

Sounds like a great way to go about it. Since I no longer need an 800w power amp I have an MG350 head and a 4 On the Floor I can use to emulate the drive section of the MG800. It works out very well for my needs.
Tried a Kinetix today at Chuck Levin's and knew it was for me after about two notes. I'm not a tube amp expert by any means, but I like the "feel" of this amp a lot. Will gig it tonight.
Post gig report - this amp is the shizz! Sure, I'm in the honeymoon period but I was extremely impressed with its performance last night. On the way home I was thinking about it and thought of the analogy of a bowl of oatmeal. The first two knobs allow you to set the texture of your oatmeal. Want it lumpy or creamy or somewhere in between. Then the lean, fat, thick switch - do you want to add brown sugar or brown sugar and maple syrup? Then you have EQ to change the overall flavor profile. Very easy to use layout and I guess I'll read the manual now that I have a chance. Heh.
