Genzler Amplification Club

I just got the Zio about an hour before the show. I plugged it in at home and was very happy with it, so I decided to throw it on the board and give it a shot. I just wish the grit was adjustable in some way other than a phillips head screwdriver. It just sounds great at low and high settings, so I cant decide where to leave it!

The Aftershock is a super versatile pedals most Source Audio pedals are. Ive replaced the factory presets with some I found on the Neuro app. I imagine after spending some more time integrating the Zio into the chain, ill find a way to set the pedal where I can have a lower grit setting and then transition into higher drive settings on the Aftershock.

I played for 20+ years without a single pedal. I dont know what happened. There are just too many cool sounds to play with!

That is an awesome 3x12" rig. I can only imagine how that kicks with the Kinetix. Thank you for the pic. If you're OK with it, we'll share it on our social media feeds.

Yes - I usually only take one of them to a gig, but stacked together they’re the same height as an 8x10. The NC112 makes a great keyboard speaker as well.

I’m making the purchase of the Magellan 800 shortly, tried it with the Baer cabs when I was getting my ML212 to go with my ML112 and it was instantly gorgeous tone. I want to try the Kinetix but I know I love the Magellan. I would be racking it as well so interested in what everyone is doing.

not me, but many folks on here have done the exact same thing as you and are happy
I don't need to rack anything

I had a similar issue racking the Mesa D800+, so used heavy duty Velcro from Home Depot with sanding sponges from harbor freight. This allowed me to shoe horn in a Peterson Strobo Stomp tuner as well.

The result is compact, lightweight, affordable, and far more shock resistant than rack ears : )

Im very interested in this topic as well. I currently have the Magellan 800 and it is excellent. I just cant help but wonder how others would compare the flavor of the Kinetix as well as the Bass 800D.

Interesting timing. I just got home from visiting a friend where we compared my Kinetix to his 800D.

Both amps are fantastic. The 800D has an edge to the tone that sounds perfectly suited to rock. The Kinetix does not have that grind to the tone. It sounds very muscular and musical. My friend and I agreed that both amps are wonderful and quite similar in tone but the Mesa Boogie is probably better in a harder rock setting.

I have owned a Magellan 800 in the past and it sounds more “neutral” to me. Less color? The Kinetix sounds warmer due to the tubes in the preamp.

Of the Subway amps you have tried, which model comes closest to the Kinetix,or where between two models of the Subways does the Kinetix seem to be sound-wise?

I have owned all of the Subway amps except for the D800. I think the WD800 sounds closest to the Kinetix, however it takes some knob twisting on the Subway amp to get there. I run my Kinetix on the lean setting and all the EQ knobs are centered. It sounds lovely to me set like that. The WD800 is voiced differently to sound similar to the Walkabout amp Mesa used to make. The generous EQ on the WD makes it possible to get very close to the tone of the Kenetix.

The only Subway amp I didn't bond with was the TT-800. The Subway channel sounded sort of dull to me and the Boogie channel was the one I favored. I mostly use the D800+ and the WD-800 along with the Kinetix. They are all wonderful amps.
