Genzler Amplification Club

I have owned all of the Subway amps except for the D800. I think the WD800 sounds closest to the Kinetix, however it takes some knob twisting on the Subway amp to get there. I run my Kinetix on the lean setting and all the EQ knobs are centered. It sounds lovely to me set like that. The WD800 is voiced differently to sound similar to the Walkabout amp Mesa used to make. The generous EQ on the WD makes it possible to get very close to the tone of the Kenetix.

The only Subway amp I didn't bond with was the TT-800. The Subway channel sounded sort of dull to me and the Boogie channel was the one I favored. I mostly use the D800+ and the WD-800 along with the Kinetix. They are all wonderful amps.
Your "Kinetix" settings used on the Subway WD800 would be a very welcome contribution here to "the cause," along with letting us know which Subway cab (15"?) you use with the setting.

Looking for any feedback. Going to be buying a Genzler amp and cabinet. I’m only using it at home and don’t plan on taking it out of the house for gigs. I’m pretty much settled on the combo that matches the Genzler Magellan 350 head with the Array 1x10. I think it will give great detail and articulation which I would enjoy at the volume level I would be using it mostly at. I’m told the 1x10 puts out surprising low end response also. I’m a four string player but been told it can also handle a five string if I get one in the future. By comparison I’m also looking at the Nu Classic 1x12. A little bigger with a ceramic speaker. Anyone have any experience with the two cabinets with the Genzler Magellan head? I don’t want anything midrange heavy. I’m currently using a Traynor SB110 combo and find it provides very good tight bass response for my needs, I would think the Array 1x10 would be bigger sounding being a larger cabinet. Interested in anyone that has compared the two. Thanks. I’m sure I can’t go wrong with either one.

What cabinets are you using for gigs?

I started my Genzler journey with an MG350 Combo like you're contemplating then added a second BA10-2-S2 cab once I sold an Epifani 2x12 cab I had about a year later. So I can share my experience with that rig.

For home only use or even for light duty gigs the combo is all you'd need. Even at 175w through a cab that seems too small to sound as big as it does there is still plenty of low end and low mid punch. The other benefit of the Bass Array cabs is the broad dispersion you get from that line array. You'll find you can stand off axis virtually anywhere in the room and it will sound the same as standing right in front of the cab.

The cabs themselves are the most accurate and transparent I've ever played. The MG 350 head will give you all of the tonal control you need and the contour voicing is very helpful. Set it to the "A" contour and you'll have a more mid scooped voicing you can control with the contour control knob as to how much or how little you want the mids scooped then just fine tune for your bass and the room with the EQ section.

The "B" contour (amber light) will give you a more low mid boosted voicing similar to the sealed ceramic speaker cabs we played for many years and again how much or how little of that you can control with the contour control knob. How close that will correspond with a 112 NuClassic I can't say not having played one but others here who own that combo can and Jeff Genzler also can when he checks in.

I believe that either way you decide to go you'll be very pleased with your choice.

The 15 won’t sound diminutive though. I love mine! Nice setup.
It did, in fact, hold the room. Well, at least the stage as there were plenty of subs under the stage to carry the room. 😳

It will most definitely be riding shotgun with me again tonight though!

Out of curiosity, what is everyone using to rack mount your Genzler's (Assuming you are rack mounting it). I have a single space shelf and I took the rubber feet off the Magellan 800 and used the screws through the shelf to mount it. I do not like how it looks, but it does hold it in place.
I use Scotch Dual Lock 1” squares in each corner on a 1 space shelf. Handles the bumps of road-life travels!!
